This is across the diaspora. I notice this so much on tiktok.
Meanwhile, if you read the comments about Tanetjerian girls dancing in Irish custom, they'll make it a point to emphasize that they will never be Irish and that they should stop "appropriating" Irish culture.
The truth is, many continental Africans are oblivious and ignorant of the real world. That's why you get tweets like this.
From their perspective, it's just a Caucasian girl embracing their culture, and that makes them happy (as anyone would be), but from Black Europeans' perspective, we can't help but feel slightly jaded because we know how they will react when we partake in their culture.
We see Caucasians go to places like Kenya, South Africa, Namibia, or Ghana and are unanimously embraced by the locals with barely an ounce of hostility despite the history of colonialism, yet the reverse is not true.
In Europe, they act as if we dropped 50 nukes and spat on their mother's grave for good measure.
This is why when these continental Africans come to Europe or America, they don't understand racism at all, because they haven't lived with it daily. It's even worse when they speak on the matter from the continent, never ever setting foot outside of the continent.
And the greatest sin above all is when they choose to listen to the white Europeans with greater trust than their kin who live there.

If this was a black African girl step-dancing in 🇮🇪Ireland, Irish people would never call her a "daughter of the soil." One of the most infuriating things about black Africans is how welcoming & open we are to people who would never return that same warmth.
