For Tshwane it was specially the work of Nashiphi Moya. She was visible. She prioritised townships. She turned Tshwane around after the DA nearly crippled it. People rewarded good work here…
Because ActionSA’s campaign was centred on mass removal of undocumented immigrants.
They harvested and amplified people’s frustrations on immigration because it was cheaper and easier than being pinned down on concrete municipal delivery. They deceived people.
Mashaba even promised a special metro-police unit to arrest them daily.
But immigration control and deportation sit with Home Affairs, not the metro. Municipalities cannot run a national deportation machine.
They used a problem they cannot solve as their main campaign message while the problems they can solve (services, housing, local employment) stayed vague.
How is this not electoral fear-mongering?

What's shocking some about the results is also due to a dishonesty about some of your chosen political homes. Can't slander people who voted DA, and not EFF, while at the same time pretend Julius Malema isn't associated with bo Feroz Khan, Mazzotti, Sayed, Simon Rudland.

The ANC's decline is traceable and historically documented. The warning signs were there, even when people pointed out that things were going wrong. Instead of confronting those concerns, we became defensive, justified our positions and insisted that everything was under control.

It’s not solely because of that. Believing that it is solely because of borders is another way that liberals hide away from actual reality after yet another election disaster.
They lost because they do not respect the people that they expect to vote for them. And that lack of respect manifested itself with the way they dealt with that issue. Their voters have been more than patient with them regarding that issue and they were met with condescension and disrespect constantly.
The EFF is a useless political party. And it’s not useless because of policy, it’s useless because of application and leadership. South Africa deserves a better far-left movement.
