WATCH: A Chinese warship was spotted in the waters between Basilan and Zamboanga City on Thursday, October 23, 2026. Video footage taken by Jayne Amarado shows a Chinese warship passing through the Basilan Strait, carrying several Chinese military aircraft. Amarado said they were surprised to see the massive Chinese warship passing near Basilan and Zamboanga City. The Western Mindanao Naval Command confirmed that the vessel was part of the Liaoning Chinese aircraft carrier strike group spotted in the Basilan Strait. The Chinese warships reportedly came from Palawan and passed through the Basilan Strait. The Philippine Navy immediately deployed its naval assets to track and monitor the presence of the Chinese warships in the waters off Western Mindanao. According to the Western Mindanao Naval Command, the Chinese warships did not respond to its radio challenges. Their Automatic Identification System (AIS), which transmits navigational information such as vessel name, Maritime Mobile Service Identity (MMSI), position, course, and speed, was also switched off. 令和８年１０月２１日（水）午前から午後にかけて、中国軍の情報収集機（Ｙ－９）×１機が東シナ海から飛来し、沖縄本島と宮古島の間を通過して太平洋に至り、奄美大島沖まで飛行した後、反転し、再び沖縄本島と宮古島の間を通過して、大陸方面に向けて飛行したことを確認した。 これに対し、航空自衛隊の南西航空方面隊の戦闘機を緊急発進させ対応した。
