ALT 14:214 < All iCloud Today I have to tell you with the greatest of sadness that my dear, sweet, beloved retired guide dog Unity passed away at the age of 11 years and 3 months young. As many of you know she was diagnosed with cancer last February and has been fighting it ever since. she was diagnosed with a high grade my cell tumour and was put on a course of medication to prevent the tumour from being able to spread. But the treatment was only ever to delay the spread of the cancer and not a curative one. About two weeks ago we discovered that the cancer was growing back again. The lump was to big to surgically remove again and it was clear that It was starting to cause
ALT her pain. Over the last 2 days the lump got bigger to the point it had started to cut off the blood supply to her paw. She couldn't walk and it was clear to see she was in pain. Sol made the heartbreaking decision to let her go. I didn't want to see my baby in pain and so unhappy knowing things would only get worse. So I let her go peacefully and with dignity with her family surrounding her. With me holding her, telling her how much I loved her. She was my world, she was the sun by day and the stars at night. I loved her beyond all measure and
ALT She brought me to life when I was a mere husk of a person. She gave me 8 wonderful years of service as my guide dog. She was truly devoted to being my guide dog and never really wanted to stop. She had such a zest for life and was always raring to go. She was a truly special dog with the kindest soul you could ever hope to meet. I'm truly heartbroken, she has left the biggest paw shaped hole in my heart that I don't think will ever truly heal. Rest in peace my beautiful Polar Bear, I love you forever and always.
