It's such a cliche but he legitimately might the nicest person in football.

14 and a player is quite clearly a pisstake.
There's been numerous options floated (picks, players) and Geelong came back with #32 and a bag of chips.
That's not fair value either.

Geelong have been hunting Rowan Marshall for two years.
He's clearly the type of player they're missing, and need to take the next step.
Why would the Saints give up a contracted key player for less than market rate, to a rival?
He's finished 4x in the Top-5 of the B&F. Plus 6th once and 10th once. 6x Top-10s in ten years.
It's a pretty simple equation from a Geelong perspective:
a) he's very important - pay up
b) he's not that important - not willing to pay value
How is that St Kilda's fault?
Saying they will accommodate a trade doesn't mean just accepting ANY offer. They will accept a FAIR trade for a key, contracted player.
Simple.
