Incredibly funny that if you question James Gunn's plan for the DCU anywhere online, there's a non-zero chance he'll find it and answer with a bad faith instagram rant about how he shouldn't need to have one and say you're somehow devaluing his movies by thinking he should.
if every project is standalone and disconnected then what even is the point of having a cinematic universe?
James Gunn is defending the DCU and his decision to expand the universe with “individual stories”:
“The DCU is just an alternate universe; we can enter at any location or time and tell THAT story. I dislike the idea that individual stories aren’t meaningful unless they lead to something else. People not understanding this is strange to me, because ‘Star Wars’ has essentially been doing this for 50 years across movies, shows, games and books, admittedly without the tonal variety."

Sam Wilson stans will blame anything but poor writing, mediocre performance, and boring storylines on why Sam doesn’t work as Captain America. People don’t hate him because he’s black, otherwise Miles Morales wouldn’t have been successful either, they hate him because he’s boring
