Our prayers remain with all affected by the tragedy at @CanadianForces Base Wainwright. To support the recovery of soldiers affected by traumatic burns, the U.S. government has made a formal offer of assistance and resources to the Government of Canada, should it be deemed necessary.

My heart is heavy for the Canadian Armed Forces community. Diane and I are praying for the families of the members lost in the fire at CFB Wainwright, and for the full recovery of those injured.
A serious incident creating a major fire has occurred at CFB Wainwright, in Alberta.
Our thoughts are with all the brave women and men affected.
We are working closely with the Government of Alberta and local authorities. Premier Smith and I are in close contact as are our relevant ministers and officials.
The U.S. Consulate General Calgary will be closed Monday, October 12 for Canadian Thanksgiving. The Consulate will reopen with regular hours on Tuesday, October 13.

The U.S. Consulate General Calgary will be closed Wednesday, September 30 in observance of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. The Consulate will reopen with regular hours on Thursday, October 1.
Applications for Passport and Consular Report of Birth Abroad services will be provided in Winnipeg from Monday, November 2 through Wednesday, November 4, 2026.

Twenty-five years ago, our nation felt a dark, suffocating shock that shook us to our core. We still remember the 2,977 victims lost that day in New York, Virginia, and Pennsylvania.
We also honor the heroes who stepped up when it mattered most. The 91,000+ first responders who aided in rescue, recovery, and clean-up efforts in the days and months that followed. Some ran straight into danger, and made the ultimate sacrifice.
That courage embodies the very best of the American spirit. That's the best of who we are.
