Today marks the 33rd anniversary of the tragic fall of Sokhumi. We join our Georgian partners in remembering the sacrifice and courage of those who gave their lives to protect the Georgian homeland and those who have since been displaced after the war.

Countering terrorist support networks helps keep America safe. Uzbek national Davud Ansariy, a naturalized U.S. citizen, was arrested in Tbilisi after a decade on the run and extradited to face U.S. charges of providing material support to ISIS and al-Nusrah Front. We thank our Georgian partners for helping secure his arrest and extradition.
