I had a bit of a rush to the head and signed up to the Mizen to Malin – Cycle of Hope 2024.
The third day of cycling takes part on World Suicide Prevention Day, 10 Sep 2024

I've had my head in #javascript and #SVG images again recently. Here's a quick overview of how I achieved some simple results with limited graphic design skills.

I'm sure there will be more said about this in due course, so I will not say much only that Ms Buckley does not appear to understand the essential role which Judicial Review plays in ensuring the accountabilty for legal decision making of the public authority which she chairs.
Very interesting speech by An Bord Pleanála chair Oonagh Buckley today
She said planning law changes will make life “very lucrative” for solicitors who target judicial review cases to make money from the state. She specifically singled out @FredPLogue

Taking someone to court for breaking the law... the very idea. She must have white knuckles from clutching her pearls. 🫢

The reality of what happens with these BTRs. Institutional funds exist to make inflated profits. Providing affordable homes to rent is not what they do.
Meanwhile in Australia we can look at the future of Irish rental housing as it naturally limits its supply in the free market. Gonna be a long time waiting on the flood of supply from the private sector & the prophesied knock on “filtering” & affordability…

Some nameless "vulture fund" in Luxembourg owns this ordinary semi in Clondalkin that's been left vacant for two years. How can that be justified under any circumstances, least of all in the midst of a housing emergency? ...

Thank you @UnaMullally - “..we have a housing policy crisis alongside a housing crisis…” “treating housing as a commodity and not a social need has been catastrophic” irishtimes.com/opinion/2023/…

Judicial Review - the only recourse open to concerned communities to overturn horrendous SHD planning decisions by the dysfunctional @anbordpleanala is being removed in the new Planning Bill at the behest of developers’ lobbyists . Cheers @Paschald @votemaryfitz @DarraghOBrienTD
A must read to understand the Planning Bill:
“..planning consultant & Property Industry Ireland lobbyist Tom Phillips, who was involved in promoting numerous SHD schemes, said it was beyond time for Gov to ‘grab the judicial review issue by the scruff of the neck’”

“In development the bad drives out the good. If we don’t have a system of stopping the bad development getting pushed through we will never get the good development that my colleagues & the architectural profession are talking about”
Well said @FredPLogue

Someone sent us this poem first published over 100 years ago - "The House with Nobody In It" by Joyce Kilmer. We've dedicated it to one of the properties listed on 'Fibs Estates' - 26 Royal Canal Bank @derelict_dub @LovinDublin @frankmcdonald60 @RoryHearneGaffs @otrosnosotros

Fibs Estates - 18 buildings in Phibsborough alone that have lain derelict and empty for YEARS.
Properties with the potential to provide hundreds of housing units.
Government has left itself toothless and unable to force owners of derelict properties to bring them back into use.
