The trump administration called the baby a dangerous criminal and detained him while giving a visa and a warm welcome to an actual criminal from Brazil.

Reminder: unless you're literally a Duke Energy or datacenter lobbyist, voting against all three amendments is in your best self-interest as a North Carolinian.
Actual county commissioner here. A 40% increase on property taxes due to revaluation almost always means the property increased in value by 40%, which dwarfs the tax increase. Revals ensure fairness in tax burden, and the proposed amendment has nothing to do with good government.

“Students read a hefty book a week and write regular essays. There is no pass/fail option. Digital devices are verboten, and attendance is taken” This was my same experience in multiple freshman-level classes at UNC. Now it’s considered shockingly tough for the Ivy League?

It shows you what is priorities are! It’s all about himself, not about what’s good for the American citizens. 🤬

I saw Flavio Bolsonaro had the audacity to thank the American people for “taking him in.” I don’t know why he said this? The American people didn’t do anything; his puppeteer, TRUMP did. We don’t want him here. Common-sense Americans want our tax dollars spent on OUR healthcare, OUR roads, OUR schools, but instead, the Republicans are using them to let this guy live the movie star life with our money. The Republicans have lost their minds. I don’t want to pay for this guy! Who the hell does he think he is? Not only is he stealing from the American taxpayer, he is further calling himself the “leader of Brazil,” after he just got smacked in an election. This is blatant election denialism, and it represents the dangerous, anti-democracy ideology that must not be allowed in our country. THE AMERICAN PEOPLE MUST NOT BE THIS GROWN MAN’S SUGAR DADDY! When Democrats win this election, unlike Flavio, every dollar going towards this sham must be investigated and DEFUNDED. That security detail? DEFUNDED. When Trump is gone, the Bolsonaros must be deported. They are not “asylum seekers”; they are authoritarians leeching off the hard-working American taxpayer. We work too hard for this. Enough.

Then you know what these FBI agents should do? They should publicly right now tell the President of the United States to take a hike. And if Trump orders them to seize ballots, they should defy the order, hold a press conference and tell the country what the traitor in the White House just ordered them to do. It’s time that people in the DOJ & FBI put their country first and speak publicly. It’s past time.

Sir Walter Raleigh legend Great man, Great poet A honey tongue, a heart of gall, Is fancy’s spring, but sorrow’s fall Soon break, soon wither, soon forgotten: In folly ripe, in reason rotten But could youth last, and love still breed, Had joys no date, nor age no need

Judge David Carter: "Never before in American history has the federal government, on the eve of an election, sought to coerce a state and local government to abandon their own Constitutional elections procedures and bend to the will of the Executive Branch. In bringing this lawsuit, the Executive would have this Court believe that it reigns as a sole sovereign. But California and its people are sovereign, too."

FYI, the other part of this that @ncspeakerhall doesn't want you to know is that Senate Republicans in @MyNCSenate killed this bill and it didn't go anywhere. But "accomplishment"... okay. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Hardworking North Carolinians shouldn’t foot the bill for data centers. NC House Republicans passed the Ratepayer Protection Act to make data centers pay their own way, eliminate special tax breaks, and protect families from higher energy bills.

At UNC Charlotte where the on-campus student union early voting site used in 2022 and 2024 was moved 1.1 miles down a road with no sidewalks to an abandoned library, the student newspaper is encouraging students instead to take the light rail from campus 10 stops to the Hal Marshall site right at a rail station ninertimes.com/news/where-un… (other campus groups are doing likewise)

NOTE: Knowingly telling people the wrong Election Day to prevent them from voting can be a criminal offense, potentially a felony under both federal and state law.
At Trump’s South Carolina rally, GOP Rep. Russell Fry just told supporters to tell Democrats that Election Day is November 4. Election Day is November 3. Giving voters the wrong date isn’t a joke. It’s an attempt to keep them from voting.

What Blanche is doing here is illegal, unconstitutional, and just flat out wrong. In America, EACH STATE is in charge of, runs, and oversees their respective elections. The federal government has no jurisdiction. This is all part of their plan to try to illegally federalize our elections. They must be stopped.

Kentucky residents played a loud recording of the noise pollution from data centers to show its disruptive impact. Within seconds, county officials grew irritated and told them to “act like adults” and turn it off. The corrupt politicians who vote for and push these data centers onto our communities couldn’t handle the piercing sound for a few seconds, yet expect residents to live with it every day. Welcome to the USA, where politicians prioritize the bottom line of the corporations and billionaires that fund their campaigns over the needs of our people and communities.

With Big 5 publishers pushing AI on authors, agents using AI to screen manuscripts, lit journals rejecting 99% of submissions because editors no longer like to actually edit, and prizes going to AI slop then getting retracted (when the committee isn’t trying to gaslight everyone), writers have no choice but to write for the fun of it and to please themselves. But also: why should we bother submitting anymore?
For @WIRED, I spoke with Macmillan and PRH staff about AI at the rest of the Big Five. I also spoke with bestselling authors who've gone to "war" with publishers over AI use and are now demanding disclosures and threatening to leave their publishers altogether.
