Someone clearly knows which direction the wind is blowing.
US Ambassador to the Philippines Lee Lipton visited Davao City on Thursday, October 22, and met with Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte at Davao City Hall, where he was warmly welcomed by government employees and residents waving American and Philippine flags. Lipton attended an executive luncheon with Duterte, Senator Robin Padilla, Senator Christopher “Bong” Go, and local officials before visiting the city hall. "Beneath the canopy of the ancient forest, the white-headed ghost of the West rests within the crown of the Great Monkey-Eating King,” Padilla said in a social media post. (📸: Sen. Mga punyeta kayo. Ang daming Pilipinong namamatay araw-araw, Baterbonia kayo ng Baterbonia.
BATERBONIA PARENTS WITH SENATORS CAYETANO AND PADILLA WATCH: Senators Alan Peter Cayetano and Robin Padilla were joined by parents of Rene Baterbonia in a livestream on Tuesday, Oct. 10, where they discussed the upcoming movie about the late athlete who passed away in June. “...Itong pelikulang ‘to, ang dami-dami pong pinagdadaanan na pagsubok,” Padilla said. “Pero may mga taong katulad ni pinunong Alan na handang tumulong…,” he added. Rovely Baterbonia thanked their family’s supporters and the two senators for their help in making the movie happen. | Jia Erikah Fajardo 📹Alan Peter Cayetano/Facebook

we really aren’t. the reason we have this long history of oppressive corrupt system bcos we let it happen. not just the voters of terrible politicians that people blame. it’s all of us. as long as hanggang online lang majority ng outrage or no clear disruption, walang magbabago.

I have to say this whenever my privileged American friends start saying they have it just as hard as people in The Philippines. No, you don't. You live in a shitty 1st world country but it's still a 1st world country with systems in place that you unknowingly benefit from.
There is a particular kind of exhaustion that comes from living in a country where you cannot confidently plan your future because the economy, currency, electricity and cost of living can ruin your plans overnight.

history says otherwise. we’ve already done this twice, both against the spaniards and the americans 😭 none of the protestors we’re seeing today are people who are comfortable with their lives. this is not a hill we should die on.
ph haven't reached that point bc disruption is an unaffordable risk for most ppl. the french can bring their country to a halt because they have safety nets, whereas most filipinos survive pay check to pay check so not working means starving your family that very night.

not going to apologize for being political on main btw i’m really sick of this mindset that we just have to just “vote wisely” and hope that fixes things, because it doesn’t!
