man who gave the odyssey a five star rave review slanders film about centuries of queer repression and survival under fascism for “insisting on its own monumentality”
“La Bola Negra,” a new film by Javier Ambrossi and Javier Calvo, dramatizes gay repression and liberation across three interconnected stories. At first, the year is 1937 and viewers are thrust deep into the Spanish Civil War, where a Nationalist soldier and a wounded Republican freedom fighter exchange furtive glances. By the end, it’s 2017, and a Madrid-based historian need only look to Grindr to satisfy an urge. The movie “wants to be a sweeping historical epic of gay longing—a film about what it means to be a man who desires other men in times of war and peace,” Justin Chang writes. Instead, the directors have produced “a film that insists, arrogantly and aggressively, on its own monumentality”. Even compelling performances from Glenn Close, Penélope Cruz, and Lola Dueñas fail to rescue the extravagantly overwrought film. Read Chang's full review: newyorker.com/culture/the-cu…

everyone criticising La Bola Negra knows absolutely nothing about the Spanish civil war and are treating it like it's fictional. 'why does Sebastian not face consequences for being a fascist?' because no one did! they won and Franco ruled until he died!

People will literally see the objective reality of “black dolls cost more” but still get mad at you for calling that a black tax, even though the doll being black is literally the ONLY reason it costs more.
Nothing against this creator I love his work so much and have ordered a few dolls from him But it’s just so crazy to see the black tax in plain view like this. He said it’s harder to print the darker materials so it has higher fail rates so it cost more to produce

The last time Lamine went 3 games without scoring or aasisting some guy said he is moving like Tupac and he'd be shocked if he makes it to his 23rd birthday alive
Olise has gone 3 games without scoring or assisting. But he’s not trending. Thats how you realise he has no real fans rather they’re just Lamine haters
