Met @marclou and @alexwestco today after their talk.
Thanks for the quick conversation.
Even cooler in person.
Put together a trial conversion funnel in mixpanel for my latest app.
Getting a decent number of trials organically, but the trial to paid conversion still has a lot of room to improve.
Shipping an update to improve the core results and curious to see how much it moves the needle.
If I can fix conversion, I’ll probably start testing some paid marketing channels next.
Today I was at the @RevenueCat x NeonApps IRL Shipaton Meetup 🚀
Saw old friends, met new people, and checked out some really ambitious and impressive apps the teams have built.
It was a fun and productive event, hope we get another #Shipaton meetup in Istanbul soon!
Why is my app called tomomo, and why is its mascot a white cat?
“Tomo” means “friend” in Japanese. Momo is a friend I met in Japan, and struggling to communicate with her became part of the idea behind my app.
So the name came from tomo + Momo and I also liked that it can sound like “to Momo.”
And the white cat? That’s based on my actual cat 🐱
So both the name and the mascot come from real parts of my life.

(Yes, I was messaging myself because I need friends to test the app 😭)

I’m using different AI models for different jobs in tomomo.
Gemini 3.5 Flash-Lite for live translations.
GPT-5.6 Luna for mini lessons, similar cost, better explanations in my tests.
If a few seconds feels too slow, I’ll switch as faster models come.

Translation helps you understand a message, but I wanted tomomo to help you learn from it too.
So I made every translated sentence tappable.
One tap turns a real conversation into a mini lesson you can explore, listen to, and practice.

I decided to join @RevenueCat Shipaton 2026
I’ve been building a language learning app called tomomo
The idea is simple: Speak first. Learn later.
Speak in your own language.
Understand everyone.
Learn from real conversations.
