#OTD in 1537, Jane Seymour died at Hampton Court Palace.
Assistant Curator Minette Butler shows us the Silverstick Staircase, which leads up to the old Tudor Queen's apartments where Jane gave birth to Edward VI only 12 days earlier. It is said that this staircase is haunted.

We can't get enough of these incredible spaces 😍
Here our some of our favourite spots across our palaces. Which room do you want to wander through? 🏰

ALT A small chapel with a view through an arched doorway. Inside, there is an altar covered with a red cloth, two unlit candles, and a stained glass window in the background. The floor has colorful mosaic patterns.

ALT A lavish room with red textured walls adorned with numerous classic paintings in ornate gold frames. A large, elegant chandelier hangs from the ceiling. A polished wooden table with vibrant pink floral arrangements stands on a patterned rug. An intricately carved fireplace is present on one wall. The setting exudes opulence and historic charm.

Purple polka dots shimmy across the surface of this dress, the fabric all that was required to create a decorative dress. Devoid of embellishment other than lace collar and cuffs, it holds its own in lavender shaded splendour. Late #1840s, Brussels Museum of Fashion and Lace
We say goodbye to our dear friend, Oscar-winning actress Eva Marie Saint.
One of the last surviving stars of Hollywood’s Golden Age, we are grateful for her contributions to cinema and the time she spent with us over the years.
Our thoughts are with her loved ones.

This feels like a quietly appropriate approach to autumn dressing, a loose early #1880s ‘at home’ kind of gown in reddy brown challis, a lightweight blend of wool & silk. The Watteau pleat at the back & panels at the front are embroidered with pale forget-me-nots #newcanaanmuseum

The difference between front & back is barely discernible, such is the cool drama of Molyneux’s mid 1930s velvet gown. A slight dip at the neck & opening at the front of the floor length sleeves, otherwise it is a mirror of itself as she stands in velvety majesty @PalaisGalliera

The Oscar-nominated costumes of the legendary Bob Mackie.
Across LADY SINGS THE BLUES, FUNNY LADY and PENNIES FROM HEAVEN, Mackie brought his unmistakable imagination to the screen, creating costumes that were as expressive and unforgettable as the stars who wore them.
These films earned Mackie three Oscar nominations for Costume Design, honoring a singular talent who turned costumes into cultural moments and helped define how generations understood glamour. His work could be dazzling, daring, theatrical, elegant and completely unexpected, but it was always unmistakably his.
Stitched throughout the tapestry of Hollywood history, Bob Mackie’s extraordinary designs didn’t simply adorn the stars. They helped make them shine.
Bob Mackie, the “Sultan of Sequins” known for creating flamboyant, show-stopping looks for divas like Cher and Diana Ross, has died at 87.
“It is with a heavy heart that we share the news that Mr. Bob Mackie passed away today,” a statement on his Instagram read. “He lived his 87 years to the fullest, fulfilling his dream of being a Fashion and Costume Designer, which is all he ever wanted to do.
