Had to remind myself today that it doesn’t matter what’s going on in the world. I’m still fully responsible for myself and my family. I can’t get distracted by the election, the economy, or rage bait. Just need to focus on feeding my kids and getting stronger.
7 months ago my son was born and I took off my Whoop.
I didn’t need a device telling me my sleep sucks (I’d rather be delusional).
The one thing I missed was heart rate data while training.
So yesterday I strapped on a Polar H10 for Muay Thai.
Spent 30 minutes in zones 4-5.
Turns out the ultimate form of cardio is fighting your friends.
The best way to prepare for hard times is to increase your stress tolerance. It works the same way as building muscle. Purposely take on more than your current threshold, recover, then do it again. Most people avoid all difficulty and then get taken out by something minor.
Here’s a more in-depth strategy to help you regain your momentum:

Nothing wrecks performance faster than deciding something is a big deal.
Your body treats it like danger when nothing is actually wrong.
It speeds your heart up, shortens your breath, and turns a task you've done a hundred times into a threat.
Downplay it and you’ll stop getting in your own way.
If your house and car are a mess, so is your mind.
You don’t need a new morning routine.
You don’t need another podcast about focus.
You need to get rid of all the chaos.
Clean the car.
Clear the desk.
Fix what’s right in front of you.
Your environment shapes your mind.
Supplements won’t save you from a shit lifestyle.
Most people have this backwards. They’ll spend $300 a month on pills and powders before they’ll go to bed at a decent time.
Get your sleep, training, and food dialed in first.

Woke up this morning with a 10-year-old daughter.
Older folks weren't lying when they said you blink one day and your kids are all grown up.
Can't wait to see who she becomes but I'll always miss the little girl.
There are two kinds of exhaustion.
The first comes from wasting your energy on things that aren't moving you forward.
The second comes from going after goals that will dramatically change your life.
You’re going to be tired either way.
Make sure it’s for the right reason.
Read more history. Read it to stop panicking. Read it to spot the patterns. Read it to see who’s lying to you. Read it to realize your problem isn’t new. Read it so the news stops working on you. Read it to predict the future. A few pages a day will change how you see everything.
None of the top athletes I know are 100% optimized.
They don’t track calories, barely sleep, and drink.
Would they be better if they did? Probably.
But their real advantage is that they can perform under any circumstances.
Needing perfect conditions is fragility.
Woke up this morning feeling like garbage.
Sore throat, small cough, no energy.
Dragged myself into the gym anyway and had a really solid workout.
Lo and behold, I feel great now.
This always seems to work for me, even though it goes against what everyone says.
Staying in a life you hate is the biggest mistake you can make. It happens because changing course feels uncertain. You’re worried about failing, but not taking action is the only real defeat.
The most reliable way to become who you want to be is to put yourself in a situation where quitting isn’t an option.
Took Magnus camping for the first time this weekend.
This is a non-negotiable for our family.
The future belongs to people who can still live without screens, walls, and constant comfort.
Those who can’t will slowly lose touch with what’s real.
Many more to come.
Every problem I've ever had was solved by stepping away from the modern world and sitting in front of a fire.
