This is one of the best examples of misunderstanding a shot. Look at abyssal difference between these two. In Chung's original animation the scene builds up towards the eye that is setup to function like a venus flytrap. It's insidious, it meets your expectation even though it makes no sense. The shot is so simple and controlled, you arw drawn to the trap (the curving lock of hair guides us). Look atbthe movie, it just looks like a fly flew accidentlaly into her eye out of nowhere, just randomly.

Found out Kentaro Miura was going to work on "D.R.I.F.T." but he only managed to produce two concept arts

You could just tune on MTV and there would be just cool things like The Maxx. Look how well it's designed and notice how the dialogue just follows such anhard to predict pattern that still flows so naturally

I conceived Diana & Callisto as a watercolour sketch entirely from imagination. I then developed it compositionally and coloristically, filling in the details, refining the drawing and making studies from life/photos only when I was stuck. This is why the picture feels cohesive.

You couldn't do this before AI. And it was a good thing, cause these sliding flying camera is in complete contrast with what this painting is trying to convey

Ever noticed how in Eyes Wide Shut night and day moments function differently? At night Bill has access to physical people but no information about their identity. Everyone is physically there, yet he has no idea who they really are. In Somerton he can see everyone's body, but everyone is masked. Then daylight comes and it flips. Nick is gone, but Bill gets a story about him. Domino is gone, but he learns she has HIV. The masked woman is gone, but he finds her name in a newspaper. Goes to Somerton and gets a written warning through the gate. When he discovers the identity of the woman, he finally also interacts with her physically, but too late, she is dead. Also Bill and Alice never interact during the day where Alice behaves like the good mother and wife that he thinks she is supposed to be, but they only physically meet in the night where she is either intoxicated or sleeping (dreaming). The only exception is at the end, after everything has been revealed, at the toy store. So light shows hidden identities, the night shows physocal reality. What stands between day and night? Artificial decorative light, like a Christmas Tree.

The backgrounds of "The Neverhood" are lit in a way that makes them look so cozy. I won't elaborate

Very interesting to see the "Arnolfini portrait" by Jan Van Eyck so faithfully recreated as a photograph by Eugenio Recuenco

The sad thing about David Lynch getting snobbed by Hollywood is that he genuinely just wanted to make things all the time so he was forced to just release small things he could make at home on his own.

Gustav Klimt, Spruce Forest Klimt went into the forest and left everything else behind. No figures. No buildings. No story. Just rows of spruce trees. Light and colour. Spruce Forest comes close to abstraction. And many modern artists would take that idea much further.

The style of animation like here in this short animation "Le Criminel" (1993) by Gianluigi Toccafondo is one of the coolest ever and it was quite popular in the 90s. You don't see this style anymore
