this is just another woke era, but this time the narrative that we must recycle is "we're optimistic about future" as if it can override internal anxious thoughts that people feel without properly adopting them

Europe is going to be fine 😌
I'm noticing the growing possibility that Europe becomes very poor in the course of the next 10-20 years. You have the following factors: - Heavy industry totally uncompetitive against China, automakers etc. rapidly losing ground - Services industry totally uncompetitive against AI - No natural resources, or regulatory hurdles making their extraction impossible - No access to the new economy (no AI, no data centers, uncompetitive energy sector) - Client states caught in one-way welfare ratchets, spend reallocation + investment well-nigh impossible This seems under-contemplated. And we're talking really, seriously dirt poor: taken to its logical conclusion, many countries will have much, much smaller services and manufacturing industries -- economies may become much more heavily skewed toward natural resources and energy markets, where Europe has made it impossible for itself to compete. And I'm not saying that this is likely to happen, it's an extreme case. But the probability is greater than zero and appears to be growing. The EV of that is so negative that it's surprising to me that it's not coming up more.

I used to be blinded by incoming traffic, now I'm going to be blinded while I'm in the traffic. This is EU's race to "the brightest" similar to US's "the biggest".

Level 1: doesn't know status game exists Level 2: knows about status game, but doesn't win at it Level 2.5: knows about status game, but denies it (many stuck here) Level 3: understands how to win at status game, but loses (many stuck here) Level 4: starts to win status games Level 5: keeps playing and wins status games consistently (many stuck here) Level 6: stops playing and continues to win Level 7: results allows to stop playing
people need to status max so much more high status people saying "chasing status is bad" is such an effective way of keeping everyone below them literally the only reason why you care about a person you have not met is because they've done something publicly approved rant:

I’ve spent less time on Netflix, not because of YouTube or TikTok, but because of Claude. “Tinkering” should be considered a hobby, instead of “work”.

Prediction: there will be an "AI Agent Insurance" products, that both companies and users can subscribe to. All incentives are aligned: 1. Users are asking for the best agents to participate in program 2. Insurance checks the agents for boundaries and risks 3. Agents improve their behavior to match both sides 4. If anything goes wrong for a user, insurance compensates the damage (e.g. did unintended booking without confirmation without refund option). 5. It makes it easy to insurance to check the claim by getting chat logs.

Both procreation and immigration are results of economic policies.
i can think of a way to more efficiently and quickly increase the US population size than through procreation

Hear me out: iPhone 18 Jailbreak + AI to customize OS to your needs iPhone and Android are soooooo unergonomic and unpersonalized to my needs, I would love to make my devices MINE, while inheriting the amazing basics they provided in physical and software shape. We did it in 2009, we can do it now.

At this point it feels like “west” is propagandized way more than “east”. “west” thinks they are too educated/rich/free/unbiased to be influenced.

1. I don't like how they didn't deviate from 911 enough. Formula is too good. 2. 917 was a good deviation, this one looks like a mod. 3. Headlights are too small. Might be better in real life. 4. They just removed lights under headlights in newer 911 to have bigger air intakes... only to return them again. 5. Exposed Fan? I don't care about functionality and preservation, it's just awesome. 6. Roof intake? Awesome. 7. BBL read wing spoiler? it doesn't look solid to me, apart from top down view, which will never be seen. 8. Wheel are overdesigned and look like my kitchen blender add-ons. Taycan's white strip option would shine!

Apple could've rearrange the Home Collection to write "Home", but they didn't.

"Taste" is the same moving target as "Intelligence" or "Economy". You can measure it, benchmark it, find new indices, align on them, but you can't really align on what "good" means. At least "Economy" have numerical data.

Apple HomeView is actually a great device for some niche use cases. For example, a ballistic threat dashboard on your desk.

If London people would love London as much as New York people love New York, London would be a better city. The whole immigration system is missing not only “merit system” but also "vibe system", where people migrate to be excited about the new place, not critical. Moving somewhere to complain about that "somewhere" is insane and it's happening to London.
