Got a notification from @Snapchat so I checked my dev account … Half a BILLION plays on a Lens I made at the end of 2024 for New Year’s Eve … and it’s still doing ~75k a day. Crazy. No idea why or who would be using it. Wish I could monetize. 😂😎🤷♂️

I built "MatchCore" as the custom game-intelligence engine to power Toybox Soccer on Vision Pro. I ran thousands of 2D sims to fine-tune it. I also ran trials on 20+ hand-controller concepts to find the right one for this game.
Last night I asked @OpenAI Codex to port the systems to WebXR so I could test concepts on Quest. Took 15 minutes to have a working demo lol 🤯🤯🤯🤯

Took iconic soccer goals like Mbappe 2022 World Cup final volley and Roberto Carlos epic free kick and recreated it in 3D tabletop mode. Cause why not. Seriously tho for both entertainment and learning and dev this type of spatial application has limitless potential. @Apple Vision Pro via Toybox Soccer app (pre release). #visionsos #vr #ar #soccer #futbol
Added arrows for the 3 easiest passing lanes, each with a completion % estimate, on real @MLS game footage in the 3D @Apple Vision Pro replay ⚽️
Used Claude Opus 5.5 to:
• track every player + the ball (RF-DETR, BoT-SORT, DINOv2)
• train two gradient-boosted pass models (un-xPass method) on thousands of real Bundesliga passes

hey @PalmerLuckey do you have any dev activation codes for the OG @modretro Chromatic owners? 🙌
Added crossing and headers. 😀⚽️ activated by certain zones then requires a pass for the volley and shoot to head it. 1 second window to take advantage, 8 second cool down. #visionpro #soccer #vr #ar #gamer
I’m 100% bullish on spatial computing from a device on your eyes. I’m 100% excited for the new @Meta VR glasses and will give me lots to quiet the critics. BUT Arians take is the most honest and pragmatic.
as one of like 3 VCs that has VR positions in an active fund, i don't really see the point of Meta's VR glasses tbh:
> majority of current VR usage is really 2 buckets: 1) gen A gaming and 2) enterprise/training in physical industries (there are a number of very good businesses in these domains). given the apparent spec constraints in the new glasses (i.e. reduced FOV) I doubt gen A would migrate to these, enterprises might.
> while the glasses are lighter and smaller than a headset, they still make you look like a dweeb, meaning usage will be limited to the home or workplace (unlike the Ray Bans). Meta (or anyone else for that matter) has not yet found a killer use case for VR for the normie consumer, and just improving the form factor does not fix the content problem (although a less strenuous form factor might lead to users spending more time experimenting in the glasses / the bar for a sufficiently "good experience" goes down as the trade-off with comfort diminishes)
> Meta's track record with the Quest ecosystem has been awful for devs, and until they choose to empower devs vs compete against them, they will have even more obstacles attracting new devs to build the experiences they desperately need for the glasses to be a success (largely because they also have track record of wanting to own both the ecosystem and the leading apps inside of it, although it seems they may be stepping back from that).
as things stand, I would expect these things to collect dust after a month
Just visited the new @insta360 flagship in NYC. I’ve owned every 360 product of theirs since 2018, love them. But damn. This was weak. No energy. Just a showroom with a maybe broken interactive station?? These cameras are incredible and sooo easy to use. Show people. Let them play. Make them a simple but crazy tiny planet photo in iconic NYC. Shake my head. 🤷♂️
Just stopped by the @Meta Lab retail space in New York. It was packed full of non tech people trying and buying AI glasses. I still don’t think 90% will use or wear beyond showing friends or special occasions … but dang they are moving the needle in the right direction for face computers.
