A blockchain's total supply is only as honest as the code that reports it. On Aug 12 an attacker minted about 4 billion new Harmony ONE, inflating supply by roughly 26%, while a broken totalSupply feed hid the extra tokens from the market until the money was already gone.

Two failures stacked. First, an exploit tied to empty blocks minted ONE with no authorization (Harmony has not disclosed the exact bug yet). Second, the totalSupply endpoint that apps and exchanges read to check supply did not show the new tokens in real time, so no alarm fired.

The attacker moved about 2.8 billion ONE (near 70%) to exchanges before freezes landed, leaving under 3% onchain ONE hit an all time low near $0.00057, a one time $4B ecosystem now near $11M market cap. A rollback could undo the mint but also erase every real transaction since.

A blockchain payment can be fast and private. Dash has put shielded transactions on its Evolution mainnet, using Zcash's Orchard design so sensitive payment data is not publicly exposed.
1
16
Privacy often makes wallets slow because they must find encrypted notes. Dash says its indexed data structures can sync a fresh wallet in about 20 seconds, instead of hours in some designs. Less setup friction makes private payments more usable for people and businesses.

Ethereum is debating an economic brake for staking. A new draft would burn a rising share of validator rewards as more ETH gets staked, reaching a 100% offset around 60.25M ETH. It is not approved.
1
14
Today, staking yield falls as more validators join, but never reaches zero. The proposal adds a taper: validators still earn rewards for doing duties, then part is deducted and burned. The burn fraction grows with the staking ratio.
1

Why it matters: authors want the market to stop adding stake before too much ETH concentrates in staking systems. The tradeoff is real: validator income falls, while unstaked ETH faces less dilution. Ethereum developers are still debating the design.

Replying to @Cloudflare
@Cloudflare just gave AI agents an identity and a wallet. On Aug 4 it announced Cloudflare Wallets and cloudflare.pay, so websites can tell a real agent from a bad bot, and agents can pay for things online on their own.
1
67
How it works: each Cloudflare account gets a stable web address as an ID. Users then assign a Virtual Wallet to each agent, funded from one Account Wallet holding stablecoins. Every Virtual Wallet has a spending cap, an approved merchant list, and a max transaction size.

50
Money angle: paired with Cloudflare's Monetization Gateway (built on Coinbase's x402 standard), sites can charge AI agents per API call or page view in stablecoins, a new revenue line. Only handle reservation is live now; full wallet funding comes in coming months.

Replying to @BlackRock
@BlackRock just tokenized $311B of its EU money market fundsβ€”on JPMorgan's Kinexys. Here’s the key takeaway: the token is a wrapper, not a replacement πŸ‘‡
1
11
Why this is huge for corporate treasuries: They can move or pledge holdings as digital collateral outside the fund’s daily cutoff. This unlocks 24/7 mobility instead of limited trading windows.
1

The strategic play: JPMorgan gets paid for the rail. BlackRock keeps client cash in-house, away from onchain rivals. Nothing is replacedβ€”it’s an access layer bolted onto $311B already in traditional custody.

Wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC), a token that lets Bitcoin move on Ethereum and other chains, is switching its cross chain plumbing. @BitGo , the company behind WBTC, just dropped LayerZero for Chainlink's CCIP. The reason: who you trust to confirm a transfer really happened.
1
14
A bridge needs 'verifiers' to confirm coins were locked on one chain before minting on another. @LayerZero_Core let projects setup even just one verifier. That let attackers steal $292 million from Kelp DAO in April. CCIP requires 16+ verifiers per bridge by default.
1
6
Money angle: WBTC holds about $7.4 to 7.7 billion in value, the biggest asset yet to leave LayerZero. With Mantle, Kelp, Lombard, Solv, Virtuals, Re and Kraken, roughly $14.6 billion has now moved to Chainlink CCIP. LayerZero loses fees and volume, Chainlink gains both.
