We've long suspected that Spotify was recruiting fake artists and juicing them in its algorithm and placing them on the most popular playlists. Liz Pelly collected the internal docs + other evidence to finally prove it.
The tomte started the year looking like a little Santa waiting to be put back into storage then turned into your garden-variety gnome through spring and summer ...

"Orange Hour isnât for everyone. Itâs not for the listener who needs the standard intro-verse-verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge-outro. Itâs also not for the impatient listener. It gives birth and dies in repeat cycles on purpose."

When night nears it'll be just you and a song
A melody spun of memories to fill the silence
The rasp of age frays the edges as you remember and recall
Lyrics that glow, how they flicker, like embers in the dark
