In 2024, I was sure MDMA would be the first psychedelic the FDA approved. I was wrong, so I don't make approval predictions lightly.
I'll make one anyway: Psilocybin could be FDA-approved as early as January 2027, and I think approval will set the underground on fire.
The first psilocybin treatment (COMP 360) headed for approval will be available only at authorized clinics. It's reportedly priced around $20,000 per dose, with no talk therapy built in.
Most people will never get a seat in that clinic. What they will hear is the headline: the FDA approved psilocybin. For millions, that reads as permission, and many will go find it on their own.
We've already watched this happen in Oregon.
After the state's 2020 ballot measures, up to 90,000 more people a year started using psilocybin, while the legal program served fewer than 6,000 clients last year. Most of the growth happened outside the legal system.
Australia shows what access looks like after approval. It approved psilocybin for treatment-resistant depression in 2023. On my podcast this year, Dr. Lauren Macdonald estimated only about 80 people had been treated since, at $25,000 to $30,000 (Australian) for three sessions, with no insurance.
Washington sees it coming too. Matt Zorn, often called the federal government's "psychedelics czar," said last month that the greatest risk is "use outside the medical channels that results in adverse events, driven by FDA approval."
I've spent about 10 years in this field and guided or coached more than 1,000 people through psychedelic work. The substance is only part of it. How someone prepares, whom they talk to, and how they make sense of the experience afterward decide how it goes.
Approval will change how many people take psilocybin. It won't change what they need to do it well.
For most people, that support will come from coaches, therapists, guides, and clinicians trained in preparation, integration, and harm reduction, within scope and the law.

芥正彦さんが亡くなった。
2026年10月27日。享年80。
1969年、東京大学で三島由紀夫と対峙した、あの東大全共闘の論客が、この世を去った。
しかし、芥正彦という存在を、1969年という歴史の一断面のみに封じ込めることなど到底できない。なぜなら、彼にとって演劇とは、過去に上演された作品でも、舞台という閉鎖空間における出来事でもなく、世界そのものを問い直し、生きることの根拠を奪還し続ける、終わりなき思想の実践だったからだ。
僕が芥さんと出会ったのは、2014年。DOMMUNEで配信した、日野繭子さんのヒプノティック・ハーシュ・ノイズアルバム「Akashic Records」のリリース記念番組「Analysis of 日野繭子 ～ピンク映画、そして…ノイズ」への出演がきっかけだった。以来12年。晩年には、伝説的な演劇理論誌『地下演劇』の50年ぶりの復刊に、アートワークの制作という立場から深く関わることになった。
1969年から刊行された『地下演劇』が、半世紀を超える時間を経て、2024年に第7号として甦生した。タイトルは『希望の原理』。
約900ページに及ぶこの自立する巨大な紙の束には、2020年から2023年にかけて密かに重ねられていた、宮台真司、浅野典子、志人、そして若い世代との20本もの対話が収録され、新作戯曲『令和の国の舞踏譜』『灰と、灰の灰──老オイディプスの帰還──老いたるものに祖国なし』も掲載された。
50年前の前衛が、懐古趣味として復活したのではない。50年前に始まった問いが、いまだ解決されていないことを証明するために、芥正彦は再起動したのだ!!!!!!!僕はこの50年ぶりの奇書の表紙とカラーページの制作に、生成AIのMidjourneyを使用した。
表紙と１２枚に渡るカラーページの世界、その制作ノートに、僕はこんな言葉を残した。
「プロンプトエンジニアリングは戯曲である。大規模言語モデルを演出するためのト書きである。」
そして、生成AIを「器官も身体もなき知能」と呼んだ。
アントナン・アルトーの「器官なき身体」を、ジル・ドゥルーズとフェリックス・ガタリが思想として展開したように、僕は身体を持たない生成AIと共に、芥正彦の地下演劇をもう一度上演しようとした。
黒いフードに身を包んだ7人の地下演劇集団。舞台に出現するブラックホール。6次元へのアセンション。アンデス山脈へと通じる螺旋。そこから噴出する昆虫の大群。そして、活字の断片となって空間を飛び交う芥正彦の言葉たち。僕はそれらをプロンプトとして記述し、AIに演じさせた。
しかし、生成されたイメージは必ずしも僕の想像通りにはならない。そこには飛躍もあれば欠落もある。欠落した世界を人間の身体と知能で補い、予期せぬ飛躍を新たな表現として受け入れる。
これは演劇であると同時に、即興演奏でもあった。
そして、どちらの行為も英語では「PLAY」と呼ばれる。
つまり、僕はAIと地下演劇をして紙とインクで上演していたのだ!!!!!!! それは、芥さんへの最大限の敬意を込めた、僕なりの地下演劇ごっこだった。
そして今、その言葉がまったく異なる意味を持って、僕自身に突き刺さっている!!!!!!!!!!!
昨日、芥さんの葬儀に参列した。
灰野敬二さん、山崎春美さん、宮台真司さん、SLOGANの熊谷朋哉くん、豊川悦司さん…..芥さんと縁の深かった方々が集まった。
葬儀場へ向かうタクシーは、環状七号線で発生したトレーラー事故による大渋滞に巻き込まれ、まったく前へ進まない。仕方なく脇道を迂回し、ようやく到着した頃には、メーターは7,500円に達していた。
その車中で、僕はもう一つの訃報を知った。デトロイト・テクノの父、ホアン・アトキンスの死…..
Cybotron、Model 500、そしてホワンが1985年に設立したデトロイト・テクノの歴史的なレーベルMetroplex。電子音楽の未来を切り拓き、テクノという文化の基礎を築いた、あのホアン・アトキンスまでが逝ってしまった。
ホアンと僕はDOMMUNE開局前夜のMixroofficeで対談し、収録後、浅沼裕子さんと一緒に３人で寿司三昧に行った。ホワンが最初に頼んだのは炙りトロ、次に頼んだのがしめ鯖、その次に頼んだのが煮蛤、さらにオーダーしたのが漬けマグロ!!!!!!! モジュレーション、LFO、グリッジ、サチュレーション.......まるでModel 500のように、全て加工したネタじぁねーーーーーかーーーーー!!!!!!!! 僕はホアンのカタコト日本語のオーダーに３滴ぐらいガチでチビった（実話）。
芥正彦とホアン・アトキンス。
まったく異なる文化圏に生きた二人だが、既存の表現形式を破壊し、アンダーグラウンドに新しい世界の可能性を見いだしたという意味では、どちらもラディカルな革命家だった。片や身体と言語によって、片や電子音とRoland TR-808の反復によって、まだ存在しない未来を引き寄せようとした。そう、一人は地下演劇を、もう一人は地下音楽を更新し続けた。
環七の渋滞の中、都市の時間がワゴンタクシーの中で停止し、その車内では二つの巨大な文化的時間が同時に終わりを告げようとしていた。
なんて日だ!!!!!!!!!!!!!（←ゴッドファーザーオブテクノではなくキングオブコントw）
そして、火葬が終わった。芥さんは棺桶の中で僕らが彩ったビビッドな花々に囲まれ、その後、一気に焼かれて、60分で真っ白な灰となった（R.I.P ちばてつや）。
灰野敬二さんと僕は、芥さんのご遺骨を箸から箸へと渡し、骨壺に納める「骨上げの儀」に携わった。
なるべく大きいところを収めよう。芥さんの骨盤、そして大腿骨の一部は僕ら2人が骨壷に収めた自覚がある。
ご遺骨を箸で渡すという所作には、故人が三途の川を渡って無事に極楽浄土へ行けるように「橋渡し」をしてあげるという、韻踏合組合のように強いライミングに満ちた祈りが込められているともいう。
しかし、芥さんの身体は、すでにかつての形を失っていた。こんなスケルトンな様相で果たして川を渡れるのだろうか？ハロウィンは２日前に終わったばかりだ。
そう、ハロウィンの２日後、死ぬほど仮装（火葬）された芥さんの身体の最後の痕跡を、僕たちは自らの身体を使って受け渡していた。
灰野さんから僕へ。僕から灰野さんへ。
そこにあったのは、死者と生者の間で交わされる、言葉にならないインダストリアルな共同作業だけだった。
死の工場、骨の工場、灰の工場、そこに台本はない。にもかかわらず、僕らはその所作をなぜか身につけていた。
これは、巨大な燃焼炉の前で演出された、芥正彦最後の地下演劇だったのではないか？
アルトーが演劇を単なる表象ではなく生命そのものに作用する出来事として捉えようとしたように、この儀式では、死が概念として語られるのではなく、僕らの身体を介して軽快に、そしてスポーティーに運動化されていたのだ!!!!!!!
かつて『地下演劇 第7号』で、「器官も身体もなき知能」であるAIと共に、芥さんの演劇を生成した僕が、今度は、器官も身体も失われた芥さんの存在を、灰野さんの身体を通して受け止めている。生成AIとのPLAYから、死者、そしてご遺骨との最後のPLAYへ。
それはあまりにも残酷で、あまりにも美しい、演劇的な反転だった!!!!!!!
もちろん、葬儀そのものを作品として語るつもりはない。しかし、人生と演劇の境界を問い続けた芥さんなら、この奇妙な符合に、いつものように笑ってくれるのではないか。僕には、そんな気がしてならない。
骨の工場での演劇的任務を終えた今は、ただ悲しいという言葉だけでは到底言い表せない、深く静かな哀悼の念に包まれている。
しかし、僕たちにはまだ、できることがある。
DOMMUNEは2010年の開局以来、ライヴストリーミングという形式を用いて、さまざまな芸術家や思想家たちの生身の言葉、身体、そして思考が生成される瞬間を記録し続けてきた。僕はこれを「ライフログアート」と呼んでいる。
生きている人間の、二度と繰り返すことのできない時間を、記録すること。そして、その記録を未来へと開いてゆくこと。ライヴストリーミングとは、現在の輝きを映し出し生配信するプロジェクターであると同時に、アーカイヴと化したその時間は、死者を現在へ呼び戻し再生するための幻灯機でもある。
2024年5月1日、DOMMUNEでは『地下演劇 第7号』の甦生を記念し、SLOGAN Presents「希望の原理」と題した3時間の番組を配信した。
出演は、芥正彦と宮台真司。
アルトーを父とする芥さんと、学知を用いて徹底的に擁護すると語った宮台さんが、この混迷する時代における「希望の原理」を巡って激突した、凄まじい3時間だった!!!!!!!!!!!!!
1969年の「東大全共闘 vs 三島由紀夫」から、2024年の「芥正彦 vs 宮台真司」へ!!!!!!!!! いや、そんな大袈裟な番組ではなかった、笑いと糞尿に塗れた言葉が暴れる濃厚な3時間だった。そう、50年の歳月を超え、芥さんの言葉はこの日、なお燃え続けていた。
そして本日、2026年11月4日。
芥正彦さんへの哀悼の意を込めて、この番組のアーカイヴを世界の側へと公開する。これは単なる追悼配信ではない。
芥正彦の思想を、死によって完結させないための、再演である。かつて僕とDOMMUNEは、AIと共に芥正彦の幻影を生成した。今度は、アーカイヴによって、生前の芥正彦の肉声と思考を現在へ再召喚する。生成されるイメージと、記録された現実。芥さんが灰となった今は、どちらも異なる時間の中で、不在と向き合うためのメディアと化しているのではないか？。
もちろん、いかなる技術も、失われた生命そのものを取り戻すことはできない。
しかし、死者の言葉に再び耳を傾け、その問いに応答し、まだ見ぬ未来の誰かへとその召喚された幻影を受け渡すことはできる。それが、それこそが、DOMMUNEの正体だ!!!!!!! 死者は語ることをやめても、その言葉が問いを生み続ける限り、思想は死なないだろう。
芥正彦さん、あなたが晩年に掲げた「希望の原理」は、あなたの不在によって、僕たち自身への問いとなりました。希望とは、未来が保証されない世界で、それでもなお行動し、思考し、創造することなのでしょうか？

舞台が消えても、身体が消えても、あなたが遺した歪な問いを引き受ける人間がいる限り、地下演劇は続いてゆく。そしてデトロイトの廃墟では、今日もTR-808が木魚のように鳴り響いている。き、き、聞こえる!! 聞こえる!! 聞こえる!!

Nonprofit psychedelic research organisation Usona Institute has completed its submission of a new drug application (NDA) to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) concerning its psilocybin candidate for major depressive disorder (MDD), Psychedelic Alpha understands.
It means it’s the second psychedelic NDA under review by the agency at present, after we reported that Resilient Pharmaceuticals (formerly Lykos Therapeutics) refiled its MDMA for PTSD application in the summer. It also means that FDA could hand down a decision on a psychedelic application in late 2026, if the most optimistic timelines hold, or very early in the new year, given the fact that Usona, like Compass Pathways, is in receipt of a Commissioner’s National Priority Voucher (CNPV) that aims to return a decision to a developer within two months.
In our latest, we review the context surrounding Usona’s program and application, and what it might mean for its chief competitor, Compass, a for-profit psilocybin drug developer that is planning to submit its own NDA, for treatment-resistant depression (TRD), imminently.

Under pressure from Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the Trump administration may be within days of launching a nuclear strike on Iran. The target would be Pickax Mountain in central Iran, where Israeli intelligence claims the Iranian government has restarted its nuclear enrichment program. No conventional weapon in the American arsenal can penetrate 300 feet of solid granite to destroy the tunnels where enrichment is supposedly taking place. The only military option is a nuclear strike. Netanyahu has been pushing hard for one. “Bibi calls Trump about it every day,” says an informed observer.
Netanyahu is cornered and desperate. After last week’s election results, he can’t form a government unless Trump intervenes directly in Israeli politics and brokers a deal with other parties that gives Netanyahu 61 seats in the Knesset. Otherwise, he is out as prime minister and on his way to ignominy, investigations and possibly jail. Netanyahu must stay close to Trump. He needs this war.
To that end, he’s applied maximum pressure to his closest allies in the administration, including Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and CENTCOM commander Brad Cooper. Both oppose a negotiated settlement to the war they’ve so grievously mismanaged; both are pushing to restart major combat operations. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and CIA director John Ratcliffe are also following Netanyahu’s lead, as are leaders of the Democratic Party. In a recent meeting on the subject, former president Barack Obama said he opposes the current Iran peace deal being drafted in Doha.
The rest of America’s longtime allies in the Middle East are terrified by the prospect of more war. On September 27th, Netanyahu flew secretly to Abu Dhabi to enlist the UAE in his lobbying effort for a final attack on Iran. The Emiratis refused. After eight months of conflict, Gulf economies are teetering. So are global energy and fertilizer markets. They won’t recover soon. Globally, there are a total of about 850 supertankers used to transport oil from producers to the rest of the world. In October alone, 11 of them were badly damaged in Hormuz. At this pace, a global depression is imminent. A nuclear strike would radically accelerate the destruction. Fallout from a ground explosion at Pickax Mountain would contaminate the Persian Gulf, poisoning the water supply for 100 million people.
And those are just some of the immediate consequences for the region. The rest of the world is every bit as exposed. No country other than the United States has ever used a nuclear weapon in war. Some would like to. An American nuclear attack on Iran would set a new precedent. The Russians have already told at least two other governments that an American nuclear strike on Iran would free them to use nuclear weapons against Ukraine. Pakistan and India would be tempted to do the same against each other, as would North Korea against Seoul. After the first nuclear strike, World War Three is inevitable. That war would be short and final.
We’ve been sleepwalking toward this moment for months. Since February, the administration has quietly rewritten America’s nuclear doctrine to make first use of so-called “battlefield nukes” easier and therefore more likely. No one in Washington in either party seems bothered by this. Now we’re on the brink of it.
Close observers say Trump is likely to decide by next weekend whether or not to use nuclear weapons. That would be November 7, six days from now. To his credit, he’s hesitating. At the moment, Trump is listening to his vice president, JD Vance, and to his envoy and friend Steve Witkoff, both of whom argue a deal with Iran can be made.
They’re right, though it won’t be simple. The Iranians are famously frustrating to negotiate with under any circumstances, and elements of that government have become more radical since Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and his family were killed in February. After decades of isolation, even relatively moderate Iranian leaders seem confused by how decisions are made in the West. (There is a widespread belief in Tehran, for example, that the United States government controls Israel.) But overall, people who have spoken to decision-makers in Iran say there is consensus there that more war is bad for everyone and a deal is worth making.
One group that hasn’t been consulted so far is the global population — the hundreds of millions of people who will be killed along with their children if Trump is pushed by Netanyahu into launching a nuclear strike next week. Now would be the time for them to speak up.

Nonprofit psychedelic research organisation Usona Institute has completed its submission of a new drug application (NDA) to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) concerning its psilocybin candidate for major depressive disorder (MDD), Psychedelic Alpha understands.
It means it’s the second psychedelic NDA under review by the agency at present, after we reported that Resilient Pharmaceuticals (formerly Lykos Therapeutics) refiled its MDMA for PTSD application in the summer. It also means that FDA could hand down a decision on a psychedelic application in late 2026, if the most optimistic timelines hold, or very early in the new year, given the fact that Usona, like Compass Pathways, is in receipt of a Commissioner’s National Priority Voucher (CNPV) that aims to return a decision to a developer within two months.
