My guilty pleasure is Undercover Boss. There is a recurring theme where the boss realises what the frontline employees are up against. I think all senior managers and management consultants should do a stint in the frontline.
This appeals to me. But only because I'm the sort of person whose BS tolerance is low and I'd rather shoot myself in the career foot than pretend that the KPIs I'm tracking represent reality.
Crazy idea: Invite your team to share the idea most likely to get them fired. What they think competitors are too scared to try. What they would do if they had zillionaire money. And see what happens.
