Remembering today the Battle of Hastings ~ 14 October 1066. Today I attended the @EnglishHeritage Battle of Hastings re-enactment, and I am so pleased to say it was one of the best days of my life. I had such a great time with my friend, Annelisa, who showed me so much and looked after me so well. Her support for my research is 100%, and she followed up so much on interests I had expressed, such as speaking to some of the actors, who so graciously spoke with us even they were tired from battle. She had great ideas and suggestions and, in short, contributed so much to make sure our day was a success. Other attendees we encountered were all so friendly and kind, and the re-enactors worked so hard to make it splendid for everyone. Hospitality staff and crew hustled and there was - honestly - nothing out of place. I was unable to see everything I wanted, but the fault was with not enough hours in the day. 2026-10-7 ~ Chepstow Castle. Standing in the dark on motte, near an ancient grave, or in the cold and calculating energy of survival planning, I fled #Normandie - and something I did not fully understand. In Chepstow the web of Time forced me to wade through its mesh. And then something broke. I came down to the riverbank this morning; the peace was indescribable. #Wales could not have greeted me with a warmer welcome. At the train station two people insisted to stay with me to help with my luggage and get it to my hotel. Another Monsieur Kitty, this time in Breteuil. He came to me, I thought for a pet, but then kept putting g his little mouth to my hand. I so so wished I had treats for him.
