Ten years after Paris, climate is at the centre of cultural programming. But can art still challenge extractive power, or has it settled for optics?

How did Lula come from behind to crush Bolsonaro?
In short, turnout.
Bolsonaro's vote share barely moved. Lula banked millions of votes from those who didn't vote in 1st round and won eliminated candidates' votes.
A remarkable mobilisation. 2nd round turnout usually below 1st.

Lula is one of the most extraordinary politicians on the planet.
And another story - like Serbia - of incredible mobilisation, especially online. Against the threat of radical right made more real by round 1.
Never seen an effort like it.

If Lula wins tonight, it will elevate Rafael Fonteles, the governor of Piauí, who took over the campaign’s communication strategy after the first-round defeat. Young, moderate and just re-elected with almost 71% of the vote, he would emerge as a potential leader of the post-Lula left.

It’s very telling that restricting the ability of eligible voters to vote is seen as a win for Republicans.

Things are moving so fast that everyone seems to have completely missed how insane it is that AI companies have been allowed to unleash agentic AI products with no regulatory guidelines.
SCOOP: Major U.S. banks are detecting unauthorized third-party AI agents inside customer accounts, including some attempting to take actions that appear to be independent of user instructions, sources told Axios.
The findings have alarmed banking executives, who are racing to restrict access to their systems as AI moves at a velocity faster than financial institutions can respond, multiple industry and bank executives told Axios.
Several banks are now preparing for worst-case and even “day after” scenarios, including how to rapidly secure or restore customer accounts if things go wrong, the people said.
Several bank executives told Axios they're struggling to distinguish between human users and AI agents. One executive said banks also struggle to determine whether agents are authorized by customers or potentially operating without their permission, more akin to rogue agent behavior.

Iron Maiden's Nicko McBrain reveals he was invited to play golf with Donald Trump, but turned down the offer because he thinks the president and his "bunch of cronies" should be "put in jail":
“I’m not politically inclined, although I must be because I have my thoughts about him. I’m not amused by the narcissism, and all this kerfuffle about the Epstein files and whatnot, and especially the debauched war that he’s put on Iran... My last word on Trump and his bunch of cronies is, they should be put in jail."

These are insanely huge numbers out of Iowa. Absolute doomsday scenario there for Republicans. Republicans could lose a Senate seat and multiple House seats at this rate.

It is sickening that the USA is now lifting sanctions on Russian fuel, and transparently ridiculous to blame Ukraine for the spike in prices that obviously began with the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. Putin is murdering innocent Ukrainian civilians every day. The Ukrainians are fighting for their lives. And yet the White House is apparently determined to force American drivers to bankroll Putin’s slaughter. It won’t work and I doubt it will make much difference to the price of fuel.
If we want Russian oil and gas back on the world market then let’s end this war - with a free, sovereign and independent Ukraine.
