Just realized that I’ve been paying $42/month for the last 3 years for an #Azure subscription containing abandoned resources that haven’t been used for at least 2-1/2 years. Joy!
Too many organizations let IT Security and HR run the show. Alas, this is the modern world.
Security redesigned our guest Wi-Fi.
Visitors must now authenticate using a company-managed account.
I asked how someone who doesn't work here gets a company account.
"Their host provisions a temporary identity."
Fine.
Tuesday we had six investors visiting.
I created six temporary accounts.
By 9:30 AM, all six had received:
Mandatory cybersecurity training.
An employee handbook.
A calendar invitation to the quarterly all-hands.
An email asking them to set their professional development goals.
Apparently HR's onboarding system automatically picks up new company identities.
I told HR.
They said temporary accounts should be excluded.
I asked them to exclude them.
"That requires a change request."
One investor completed the cybersecurity training because he thought it was required to access Wi-Fi.
He scored 60%.
HR emailed his sponsor recommending additional training.
At 5 PM, the accounts expired.
This triggered our automated employee offboarding workflow.
All six investors received exit surveys.
One was asked to return his company laptop.
Another received an email asking why he had decided to leave the organization.
Our CEO called me furious.
"Why are investors being treated like employees?"
I explained that Security requires guests to be employees before they're allowed to be guests.
He's meeting with Security tomorrow.
The investors have already been invited to their exit interviews.
Just got perma-banned over on r/opensource for calling out the mod’s unhinged BS. Power-tripping mods are why #reddit is borderline unusable.
Seems like 99% of what’s on this app is either disinformation, lies, or flat-out stupidity. There must be millions of bots here. Every single post is filled with comments from operatives and bots. It is baffling that any brand stays here.
I have no doubt that @googlechrome is thinking of their own ad-supported bottom line when going after ad blockers, but this does appear to be a rather large bit of collateral damage, and should be enough for anyone to switch browsers.
Even in “fast mode” ChatGPT Work is frustratingly slow on a Pro subscription. Even the simplest task takes forever to run. Not sure I can recommend this user experience to anyone who values their time.
Is it me or do all #OpenAI models seem really dumb today? They’re making terrible decisions about tasks I’ve been automating since GPT-5.
We have not yet achieved super intelligence, which implies intelligence well beyond that of all humans. What we have now is 100% just artificial intelligence.
Just realized that my #codex reset this afternoon so I resumed my previous task, using Astra Medium. Less than one hour in and I’ve used 11% of a Pro 20x plan’s weekly limit. This is very concerning.
Hey, @thsottiaux! Any chance buy-a-reset is coming back for Pro 20x customers?
Hey @nba, now that you’re finally calling traveling again maybe consider also calling goaltending?
Seriously, @msonenote! Can’t be bothered to escape or encode the string?
I’d love to have a copy of Frank H. Shelton’s book “Reflections of a Nuclear Weaponeer,” but not for $15,000! Are there really so few copies? cc: @NuclearAnthro @wellerstein #NuclearWeapons
The @logitech MX Master S3 is a really great mouse! Also digging the MX Mechanical keyboard.
