We had the chance to stop by a neighborhood block party Saturday. It reminds us being a fire department is more than responding to emergencies. It's about getting to know people we serve, building connections & being part of the community. Thanks for letting us stop by! 🚒
WDMFD responded to a house fire at 1224 64th St this morning triggered by a lightning strike. The situation quickly escalated to a working fire, which prompted dispatch of additional fire units. Homeowners evacuated safely. Firefighters located & rescued 2 cats.

It’s not just kids & grown-ups who get excited when a fire truck drives by; this young pup does too. Betty loves our tiller truck. (Volume up!)
An important safety reminder: pull to the right for sirens and lights.
Did you know every WDM firefighter is trained as an EMT or paramedic? That means they show up ready to care for people on some of their hardest days. Here are a few things we deal with that people don’t always see:

Earlier this week, Station 19 A-Shift cleaned & greased the 105‑foot ladder on Ladder 195. This job might not look exciting, but it’s very important. Keeping the ladder & truck in top shape helps make sure they’re always ready when someone needs help.
It’s National EMS Week! Every day, WDMEMS answers the call when seconds matter. Whether it’s delivering critical care on scene, providing comfort in stressful moments, or transporting patients safely, they make a difference in our community 24/7. We’re grateful to serve with you!
In honor of National Police Week, we teamed up with our friends @WDMPolice for something a little different… Sirens & Punchlines!
We respond together every day, but today we’re answering the call for bad jokes & good laughs.
