In 1971, the median household income was $9,030, or 220 ounces of gold.
In 2025, it was $87,460, or just 25 ounces of gold.
Your paycheck went up 10x.
Measured in gold, it fell 88%.
To earn what the median household earned in 1971, you’d need about $890,000 per year today.
That’s what fiat debasement looks like.

Here’s the thing about gas prices, and how it relates to the price of #silver:
The historic average price for 1 gallon of unleaded gasoline has been about $0.10 of a Silver Dollar (1 troy ounce of silver).
So, to see if the current price of gasoline is a “fair” price, take the current spot price of silver, divided by 10, and that would be the fair price in relation to the price of silver.
As of this post, silver closed Friday (9/18/2026) at around $66.32/oz, meaning in relation to silver, gasoline should average $6.63 per gallon. In other words, we haven’t seen the top of gas prices yet, IMO.
