There is a type of person, I think, who is hoping to find some perfect set of sentences or concepts that will unlock the true meaning of reality. In many cases, they are unconsciously putting their spiritual growth on hold until they find it. Instead of putting their energy into the practices they know deep down will bring them into closer contact with reality, they put it into seeking ever more refined concepts for describing reality. So often though, these concepts just put more and more refined layers between the person and reality. Words can be such powerful and beautiful pointers. Maps can be such supportive and empowering tools for when we get lost. But its also so important to know when to put the maps and the concepts down. To trust that deep down we know where we need to go and to start going there.
Information gathering can be a major obstacle to the spiritual path too. My dad’s lama says that for every 1 hour we spend reading, we should spend 4 hours reflecting and 8 hours meditating / practicing. Stop looking for information; start looking for awakening.

Major life trap: Getting your dopamine from information gathering. Dopamine from information is a dangerous drug. Your entire life will change the moment you stop looking for more information and start acting on the information you already have. Get your dopamine from action.

One of the fruits of practice that comes with living your life as it is, is actually seeing truly that your life is yours, and that the lives of others are the lives of others. Which is what grief is trying to achieve. Death, failure, breakups, accidents. All present this.

It is incredibly obvious that most spiritual people on this platform who are “popular” say things that people want to hear. People who cannot proceed with their practice due to their own afflictions will take shelter in their diluted sayings and call it alignment or something.

But I do have hope that these situations can resolve, that the people who take shelter in those who sugar coat the antidote come to their own understandings. That those who dilute the teachings come to their own understanding of what is being done and take appropriate measures.

When you die it is like waking up from a dream. I suppose the ontological shock of such a moment, when unprepared for, leads to a tendency of craving, which leads to attachment, and then becoming. Stay with contact and feeling. Then this won’t be a problem.

So there is a benefit to emotional work, to staying with that moment of contact and feeling it, and not giving this moment more fuel so that it leads to attachment and then becoming. When this is done, there is relief.

Those who seek “progress” in their practice must develop the conditions necessary for: - The mental evaluations to come to their end - The desire for higher states of consciousness to come to their end - The appreciation of their current natural state

The reason why the human incarnation is perfect for enlightenment is because it presents the conditions necessary to understand the nature of reality. You will inevitably die, all earthly pursuits inevitably come to their end. The mind of a human is not filled with confusion.

An animals mind, is filled with confusion, in lower realms, you are experiencing the exhausting of negative karmas. In higher realms, you experience the exhausting of positive karmas.

In a human existence, you remain until it is exhausted. But it quite literally is the perfect balance. So practice is important now. You can clearly sense this multiple moments throughout the day.

Experiences of interconnectedness, experiences of unity, can lead to some very negligent forms of communication and relating. This is because initially it is experienced as “I am connected to this” or “I am a part of this”. This has ALWAYS been the case. No need for extras.

Which is again, why it is important to have a fundamental grasp on morality, on proper practice, and a very good understanding of the dharma. When you do, this can lead to insight, without the ego completely grabbing the steering wheel.

Oh also important to mention that there is a specific insight that can arise here which is an understanding of paticcasamuppada. It can be seen as a manifold understanding. For the fetter people, this is last three fetter stuff + beyond honestly.

One of the most CONVENIENT things about realization is that you can (usually) tell when extreme views are present, and how they are operating. One way to find the “sweet spot” here is to hold views to their extremes, they do have a contrast and it balances out.

Ultimately this is a litmus test for mental fitness, your ability to hold views in paradoxical ways. Because honestly this is all about paradox. Paradox is clarity. Paradox is freedom. 🔥

Forgive your parents, they did the best they could. Forgive everyone, they did the best they could. Release the chains that bind you.
you can "speedrun inner work" by going straight to the final boss and forgiving your parents

Really really really be on the nose about what Anatta is, and how it appears. Bahiya Sutta is a very very very good practice to take on to understand the essence of anatta. “No-self” does not mean “none of the things you should do as a human being to sustain your well being”

Vipassana can be thoroughly pleasant. When done correctly you won’t even desire this particular pleasant nature, and it can even pervade your entire life at all times. You still have your human dramas, and it changes how you relate to them noticeably.

Psychedelic experiences can at times mimic actual insights, but notice how those experiences come and go. The experience of “timelessness” is not the same as timelessness (already is the case) The experience of “spacelessness” is not the same as spacelessness (same as above)

In fact these experiences themselves can be quite destabilizing, because they are forced and actually have an artificial tone to it. Natural discovery would involve conditions that would support the integration of said experiences. Hence practice is important.
