Had an "interview" for a blockchain project last week.
Camera was on, we're chatting, and the guy tells me to clone a GitHub repo and run it locally before we go further into the technical round.
I said sure, but first can you do me a favor
hold up 3 fingers in front of your face for me real quick.
He froze.
Didn't move.
Just sat there for a few seconds before the call cut off and he blocked me.
That's when I knew. A real interviewer doesn't glitch out over a random ask like that. A deepfake/AI overlay does.
These "run this repo" scams are getting scary common in crypto and dev hiring right now.
The setup is always the same:
- flattering DM
- real-sounding project
- rushed timeline
- a "quick step" before the call
that's really just remote access or a credential stealer in disguise.
If someone wants you to run code or install something before you've even had a real conversation, that's the whole scam.
Trust the instinct. Stay safe out there.

🔰 UPI Remains Free for Consumers
UPI continues to be free for customers. Sending money to friends, paying at shops, or scanning a QR code — all remain without charges.
Key Facts:
✅ No charges on P2P: Person-to-Person transfers are always free, regardless of amount.
✅ Small merchants protected: Vendors earning up to ₹1 lakh per month via UPI QR codes continue to enjoy zero charges.
✅ Everyday payments safe: Over 95% of merchant payments are below ₹2,000 — these remain free.
✅ Nominal MDR above ₹2,000: Only larger merchant transactions above ₹2,000 attract a small fee (0.4%) to be borne by merchants, far lower than credit card charges or other network charges.
✅ Essential services capped: Railways, fuel, telecom, bill payments, insurance, etc have a flat fee of ₹5 per transaction above ₹2,000.
✅ Special low rates: Mutual fund and securities payments attract just 0.02%, capped at ₹300.
Safeguards for Consumers
✅Banks instructed: Merchants cannot pass MDR costs to customers.
✅No hidden fees: UPI apps cannot levy platform charges.
Debunking the “External Pressure” Myth:
✅ Some claims suggest the change is due to foreign influence. This is false. India’s UPI policy decisions are made independently, with the clear goal of building a self-sustaining, inclusive, and affordable digital payments ecosystem.
Why This Matters:
Since its launch in 2016, UPI has grown into the world’s largest real-time interoperable payment system — entirely on India’s own terms. UPI processed 24.5 billion transactions in August 2026 alone. To keep this system self-sustainable, secure and innovative, a small fee on high-value merchant transactions helps fund:
☑️Better infrastructure and cybersecurity
☑️Support for small merchants in Tier III–VI towns and rural areas
☑️Awareness and incentives to expand UPI adoption
The new framework ensures resources from higher-value merchant transactions are reinvested to support small businesses and strengthen digital payments across the country.

My electronics engineer brain cannot not see this as tiny ICs soldered on a giant breadboard.
A little more elevation and you see the entire PCB!
I attended the India Chapter of @globalyouthigf Youth Internet Governance Forum last week. Had a great time interacting with all the attendees. It was genuinely interesting to see people join from literally all backgrounds and disciplines willing to participate and share their input on how they see the internet governance and its affects, and how they'd like to have it shaped.
We had the opportunity to share our thoughts. I highlighted the essential importance of decentralizating the internet and the value it has on creating a free, open, secure, and private digital shared for everyone to share without the fear of censorship.
I met people from @TISSpeak and had a brief exchange around the insection of internet governance and mental health.
It was refreshing to speak with another lady who was a history professor and had interesting research ideas around internet governance.
Caught up with old friends from @AnitaBorg_India team over lunch with @aarushinair_ and later with @shreyakrishnan_ over a conversation around decentralization and psychology.
Much thanks to the @youthIGFIndia team, @g_ihita, and the centre for policy study at @iitbombay.
Imo, discussions around governance of the internet and governance on the internet are not only important, but crucial, and will gradually occupy the central space as we collectively move towards creating an improved internet for everyone.

Why do we need human beings?
In a capitalistic society bullish on artificial/human intelligence, how do you solve for beyond intelligence... how do you solve for jealousy and greed?
It's time we reframe pedagogy and reframe how we think about the meaning of pedagogy and society at large in the new ingredients comprising this new world.
When I was in school, I always used to wonder about how almost everyone in my cohort hated the moral science class and wanted to swap it for a sports or maths class. I feel this neglect/ denial of the core things has now brought the problem to the forefront.
I believe it's imperative to solve beyond intellectual intelligence and dive into other realms of intelligence to balance the imbalance on multiple levels as a result of the incredible power GenAI brings at such little temporal and monetary investment, as seen right in front of us atm.
This also inevitably includes rewriting the script and rules around governance and policy making that evolves with the evolving GenAI.
This requires serious, inclusive contemplation.
