Think of bidding on a house with a sealed envelope. You write down your maximum price and the amount you want, and no one else can see it.
On Cloak, your bid is encrypted the moment you submit it. Other bidders, bots, and the sequencer can't see it, so no one can front-run you.
Bots can't snipe because there's nothing to watch. Bids stay hidden until the window closes, and allocation happens only after everyone has bid.
There's no first-block advantage. Speed stops mattering.
When the window closes, all bids are revealed and ranked. The system finds the single price where demand matches the supply of tokens.
• Bids at or above that price are filled.
• Everyone pays the same clearing price.
• Bids below it are refunded.
You don't need to guess what others will bid. Just bid what the token is worth to you.
After the auction, the token goes into a pool with locked liquidity. You can then trade from a private balance, where your wallet stays hidden and batch mode can mask trade sizes.
Sealed launch, fair price, private trading.
Honest take: the privacy is the real product. The main friction is that you bid and wait, instead of watching a live chart.
If the countdown, clearing price, and refund process are clear in the interface, it should feel fine. Either way, it's a much fairer start than a first-block lottery.
