WELD COUNTY ROAD 41 REOPEN! Three miles of Weld County Road 41 is complete. The road between Colorado Highway 52 and WCR 22 reopened last week. The improved section of road, built by Weld County Public Works, features a rehabilitated driving surface built with a cement-treated base (CTB). CTB is used on many county road projects to strengthen the road’s structure and make the driving surface more resistant to cracking from moisture and the heavy weight of traffic. Road shoulders were widened and 14 culverts were repaired or replaced as part of the work. Learn more about Weld County Public Works at weld.gov/Government/Departme….

Strong communities start with thoughtful planning and working together! Starting this month, Weld County is working to create Coordinated Planning Agreements (CPAs) with our municipalities. These agreements help the county and cities and towns share information, coordinate plans, and work together on planning for unincorporated areas near municipal boundaries. Why does this matter? What happens in unincorporated areas near a city or town can affect nearby communities. Working together helps local governments make informed decisions and plan for how nearby areas may change over time. Curious about what this means for your community? Learn what CPAs are, why they matter and find more information at weld.gov/go/CoordinatedPlann….

The contract for a bridge replacement between Milliken and Johnstown was awarded last week by the Weld County Board of Commissioners. Structures Inc. will construct the new bridge for just over $6.9 million. The project will replace Bridge 19/46.5A, which crosses the Little Thompson River. Built in 1960, the bridge was impacted by the 2013 flood. The new bridge will be built to withstand a 100-year flood event. In May, the county was awarded a $3 million grant to go toward construction. The replacement is expected to begin in the summer of 2027, although an exact start date is still being determined.
