Behind every badge is a person, a family member, a friend, and a neighbor. On National Law Enforcement Suicide Awareness Day, IACP stands with officers and their families to reaffirm that mental health matters. Awareness, compassion, and access to support can save lives.
If you or someone you know is struggling, help is available. Call or text 988 for the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, or 1-800-267-5463 (COPLINE) for law enforcement peer support.

At the #IACPIDTS Closing General Assembly, Chief John Batiste of the @wastatepatrol left attendees with a powerful reminder: “Know your why. You can’t predict what will happen in this dangerous work, so know why you do it and do it to the best of your ability.”
Lieutenant Patrick Kepp of the @mcpnews echoed that sentiment with an equally meaningful message: “What you do matters. Whether it’s taking a speeding driver to jail or removing an impaired driver from the road, your actions save lives, including your own and those of others. The work we do is impactful.”
Together, their words underscored the purpose, responsibility, and life-saving impact of impaired driving enforcement and the professionals dedicated to it.

First time? Definitely not.
Two of the nation’s most prominent police organizations told Congress on Friday that they were willing to discuss gun policies in an effort to reduce gun deaths. It marked the first time that the organizations have commented on gun violence. nyti.ms/3MYooym
