Here’s what I would do if I were a boomer and this guy called me: Say I’m a boomer and I bought my home for $250k in the spring of 2018. The spot price of gold at that time was around $1,300/oz. Meaning I paid the equivalent of 192 ounces of gold for my home at that time. Today, 192 ounces of gold is worth $768,000 USD. But, let’s assume I made no upgrades to my home and it depreciated at a straight-line rate of 3.6% YoY. After depreciation, my home would still be worth 133 ounces of gold today (based on the purchase price of 192oz in 2018). What’s 133oz of gold worth today? *$532,000* That’s near where the market list rate likely is for my home - $500k . Don’t have the cash? Fine, pay me in gold at a 59oz discount. The end. Note: The moral of this story is not that homes are priced right (they aren’t). The moral is that our USD currency is worthLESS and wages have not kept up with inflation, while real assets have.
Offering boomers market price for their houses. These boomers literally have no fucking idea how home prices work at all. They got theirs, fuck them kids. Fuck boomers

I have a cogent rebuttal to that guy cold calling boomers and low balling them on their house price (and this is by no means a generally pro-boomer account). Effort poast forthcoming!

Under appreciated post! Polyamorous pagans crying, seething, losing all hoap.

Dear France, Your King is here in Missouri. Just light the torch, and he will break from his bronze cast and ride through the heavens to the streets of Paris and take back what is yours. What are you waiting for?

The Westold fam is heading to the pumpkin patch today with our godparents. Apple cider, pumpkin bread, kettle corn and wagon rides are imminent. Clear sunny skies and the trees are red, orange and yellow with their autumn leaves. It’s the perfect fall Sunday. *tips hat*

There are two new housing developments near me in desirable locations. The builders for each are Lennar and DR Horton. The houses, although massive and modern, are cheaply made with tiny yards. Since around August the construction has tapered down to almost a full stop with only about 20% of the developments completed. Of the homes that have been built, many are sitting on the market for months with large “AVAIL” signs fastened to the front. No one can afford them. What’s next?

This is the bread box of my 4th great-grandfather, Horatio Kingsbury. It's 170 years old. Simple, but sturdy. He was a farmer in Massachusetts his whole life. My grandmother gifted it to me several years ago, and I'm very grateful.
