Fun to be a small part of More Than Code, proof of what happens when people come together to build something that matters. #SharePoint #SP25

Retired from Microsoft and got invited back for the 2026 Global Hackathon. Apparently they forgot what happens when I’m left unsupervised. Still building, still learning, and still holding a grudge about second place in 2020. :-)

The organizing layer is the connective fabric that turns raw enterprise data into usable intelligence for AI and Copilot Search. It ensures that context, security, and meaning flow consistently across systems.
From Finding to Doing
In the world of AI, the line between search and chat is starting to blur, yet their roles remain fundamentally distinct…

For years we’ve treated “search” as retrieval… now it’s becoming the foundation for reasoning.
At #MSIgnite, we’ll unpack how Copilot Search and the connectors ecosystem are reshaping enterprise AI.

Thanks to @williambaer and @ToddKlindt for answering some questions along the way! 😍
When I joined Microsoft almost 20 years ago, it was with a small, ambitious team who believed the cloud was the future. We persisted through the “it can’t be done”, “no one is interested”, but remained convicted to our beliefs. That belief that started with a little thing called Microsoft Manged Solutions and culminated in what is today, Microsoft 365. From a small team of 12 or so developers and architects to a business we now know as Microsoft 365. Over the course of these 19 years, a lot has changed in the world…
In April 2003, scientists successfully sequenced the entire human genome.
In August 2003, Skype transformed the way that people communicate across borders, today Microsoft Teams has transformed the way we work with next-generation AI capabilities and brings together our physical and digital worlds.
When Google went public in 2004, it revolutionized the way that people search for information online, then in 2009 Bing revolutionized search again, as a decision engine.
In June 2007, Apple released the iPhone, the first touchscreen smartphone with mass-market appeal, today smartphones are an integral part of day-to-day life for billions of people, and is the same form factor I’ve authored this post…
Technology is constant innovation, more importantly constant iteration - adaptation at hyper speed is what keeps you relevant, because innovation won’t wait for you to respond.
Technology is now moving faster than ever, it took 2.4 million years for our ancestors to control fire and use it for cooking, but 66 years to go from the first heavier than air flight to humans landing on the moon.
We live in a time where technology is moving at the speed of necessity, constantly evolving and constantly delivering new value - but that value is not always inconsequential - it evolves, and in most cases, improves our lives…
Today we’re seeing the era of AI and the profound impact it can have on productivity, from writing code, crafting a simple presentation, to reasoning over your inbox and summarizing the most important conversations and interactions.
Time is now a currency, no longer a commodity. Time is something we cannot buy more of, we have to make the most of the minutes we are given.
With over 83m documents an hour coming into Microsoft 365, technology like Copilot was born not of need, but necessity. That commodity we called time is currency and Copilot pays dividends by giving us time to focus on the moments that matter.
The scale at which AI is being sewn into our everyday workflow is unprecedented and we’re making the most of the moment.
AI is shifting how we think about work, we’re spending less time on menial work and more time on meaningful work.
Over the the last 19+ years I’ve been witness to an amazing evolution of how we work, from on-premises, to hybrid, to the cloud, to conducting business on our phones, to AI.
Everyday I’m reminded of how privileged I am to witness first hand these paramount shifts in how we use can use technology to improve our professional and personal lives.
And this is just the start…
Team @SharePoint, I want to take a moment to extend my heartfelt thanks and congratulations to each one of you for your incredible hard work and dedication that made our presence at Microsoft Ignite a resounding success. Great work and we're just getting started!
Starting soon! We’re in the chat to help answer questions as we go.
Fun fact. We tried to add AI to #SharePoint v1 with @susan_dumais from MSR with support vector machines. The AI is now ready to match our “PKM” vision as we GA SharePoint agents this week and we start our #MSIgnite session in 15 minutes. 💚🤖 - vision + grit

Agents in #SharePoint are your knowledge concierge. ❤️
A favorite announcement from #MSIgnite is the GA of Copilot agents for #SharePoint. I configured one for my Resource Center site in seconds. Great to use is for a Policy Center too! Your IA matters to get the most benefit, but this is so cool! techcommunity.microsoft.com/…
