The UK has now concluded that Iran’s Revolutionary Guard was almost certainly behind the threat to Fairford airbase.
Iran’s campaign of intimidation and chaos extends well beyond the Middle East. I join my counterparts in condemning Iran’s hostile activities.
The EU has already designated the Revolutionary Guard as a terrorist organisation. We have sanctioned Iranian officials for undermining freedom of navigation and serious human rights violations.

Tony is right but why 10 years? Could be done more quickly. The UK should not seek to replicate the deal it had before. The world has changed so much. She could seek a reformed EU - stronger external borders to stop bogus asylum seeking, enhanced defence and security, more competitive economically, tech leadership, a global actor by scrapping unanimity on foreign policy. The UK rejoining would not be a normal enlargement. UK is the 5/6th biggest economy and military power in the world. The double standards on show in this case are staggering.
If a British citizen is accused of an offence affecting America, the US demands immediate extradition - regardless of whether that offence took place on US soil.
Yet when a US pilot commits a violent crime in the UK, we meekly cede jurisdiction to a foreign military court.
Our legal relationship with America remains hopelessly lopsided.
