skills shipped like an app store. the review process is still "read the file"
A skill is just a markdown file and whatever script it bundles. That's the entire trust model behind a software distribution channel that nobody at Anthropic built or moderates.
Three teams published design skills for coding agents this week, each solving a different piece of the same problem. elayadesign's two-skill repo asks intake questions before generating a landing page, then exports a design-to-motion GIF, and runs the same way in Claude Code, Cursor, and Codex. LexnLin's taste-skill skips instructions entirely and feeds the agent reference images plus a browser check instead. Together AI, an inference company with no obvious stake in typography, shipped Hallmark: a skill that scores a finished page against the tells that give away AI-generated design, the eyebrow sitting above every heading being the one everyone already recognizes.
None of this is cataloged by Anthropic. Independent directories like Claude Marketplaces list 34 skill categories and 25 marketplace categories on their own initiative, and a single landing page skill in that index already shows 12,200 installs and 437 GitHub stars. Multiply that across categories and you get a real distribution layer sitting on top of one company's agent, built and indexed by people that company has never vetted.
Tommy Geoco's own checklist before installing a design skill gets at the actual risk: read the SKILL.md yourself, check what it credits, and separate skills that only write files from ones that install packages. Write access with no audit trail is a supply chain risk wearing a design skill's name.
The distribution layer shipped already. The governance for it hasn't even started.

Introducing Code2Video-AA, our independent implementation of HeyGen’s Code2Video Bench, which evaluates how well models create product and brand marketing videos in code
Code2Video-AA tests models across 114 design briefs, tasking them with turning each product or brand marketing brief into a @HyperFrames_ HTML composition, which we render to video. Model outputs are evaluated through pairwise comparisons with other model outputs across five axes: Engagement, Prompt Intent, Composition, Temporal Consistency, and Craft. We use the outcomes of these comparisons to calculate an Elo rating for each axis, which are then averaged to produce the headline Code2Video-AA Elo. Code2Video-AA was built in partnership with @HeyGen.
Claude Opus 5.5 (max with fallback, 1536) leads Code2Video-AA by 93 points, but costs $3.08 per task, ~10x more than GPT-6.1 Sol (max, 1369), which trails by 167 points.
Key findings:
➤ Claude Opus 5.5 leads on all five judge axes: Models are judged across 5 axes: Engagement, Prompt Intent, Composition, Temporal Consistency, and Craft. Claude Sonnet 5.5 (max with fallback, 1443) and GPT-6 Astra (max, 1427) are statistically tied for second in overall score
➤ Cost per task varies more than 300x, from $0.01 to $3.89: GPT-6.1 Sol (max), fourth, has a Cost per Task of $0.31, about 90% lower than Claude Opus 5.5 (max with fallback) at $3.08
➤ Open weights models trail by at least 483 points: DeepSeek V4.1 Flash (max, 1053), MiMo-V2.6-Flash (1052) and MiMo-V2.6-Pro (1052) are the top open weights models, at $0.01 to $0.08 per task
Code2Video-AA details:
➤ Models are tested on a single response without tools. We render it with HyperFrames, with no network access
➤ A judge (Gemini 4 Argon, high) compares pair of videos across five axes: engagement, prompt intent, composition, temporal consistency and craft, with the final score being calculated from a combination of each individual axis Elo
➤ Over 35,000 verdicts rank 27 models by Elo, with 95% confidence intervals

As AI continues to advance, I think it’s even more important for humans to come together, connect, & build a shared vision for the future.
Six weeks into my role on OpenAI's DX community team, I’ve seen that happen through our Codex Ambassador events...

It’s been a full month since I joined @OpenAI on the DX community team...
I still can’t believe that in my first two weeks, we built and launched a global event series to celebrate the launch of GPT-6 Astra. ✨💫🖤
Our #AstraCommons events were hosted by Codex Ambassadors in 52 cities across the world (with some events still happening over the next week!), bringing together **3,000+ builders** to meet over coffee, share their projects, and get hyped about Astra!
One of the incredible things about this community is that each Ambassador brought something unique to their event. There was live music in Kochi 🇮🇳, specialty coffee tasting with high tea vibes in Melbourne 🇦🇺, and an impromptu “most fun thing you can build with Astra” micro-hack in London 🇬🇧.
Working with @paw_lean, the DX team, and our Codex Ambassadors has already been one of the best experiences of my career so far. I’m SO excited about everything we’re cooking for DevDay next week and DevDay Exchange events in Oct-Nov!

And if you’re interested in becoming a Codex Ambassador, stay turned for more on that soon. 👀
(Video made with Astra ofc 💅✨)
