one of the most obvious things Christians believe is that there are wolves among the sheep
stay vigilant and cling to the truth
Jesus was sold out by a friend and disciple
we are not to expect any better than our Lord

@azjustinheap Just a heads up. Make sure your volunteers and staff know on the Lexmark ballot printers if the paper tray has even a little bit of space between the top of the ballot paper and adjustable paper guide, the printer will claim that it has a jam.
This happened at the Glendale Foothills Aquatic Center polling place, but I was able to fix it and show the IT volunteer you had on hand what's wrong.
A number of people were waiting in line. I think one person left that was upset that this keeps happening in AZ elections. They thought there was something maybe more sinister going on and in this instance it was something the techs may need training on.
This happened today. I was there to vote at around 9:00 a.m. so this was going on between then and I would say maybe 9:30 9:45.
If there's any questions please don't hesitate to reach out.
GET OUT AND VOTE AZ!
after the shock fades you just kind of enjoy it tho
still, i don't like that my property taxes still fund a defunct child daycare that provides little more than propaganda to the others in my kids' age groups
if i ever run for office, this is something that will go
if @elonmusk could let us filter out the non-us accounts they would have a much harder time being annoying
"A Republic, if you can keep it" -- Ben Franklin
"Our constitution was made only for a moral and religious people" -- John Adams, emphasis mine
you cannot be free if you choose things that will enslave you
Star Wars is actually very critical of democracy. George Lucas appears to believe democracy is ultimately worth it, but he's also highly distrustful of it at the same time, particularly the representative sort.
People take lines like Obi-Wan's "My allegiance is to the Republic — to democracy" too much on faith and assume that's the story's moral thesis.
In that same film, Revenge of the Sith, Padmé expresses distrust for the Republic's institutions and wonders whether they have calcified into the evil they've been trying to destroy with the Separatist crisis.
She's the one who sees things clearly. It's realpolitik and pragmatism. Obi-Wan is somewhat more idealistic.
So, no, it's not as simple as "Star Wars is democracyslop". The story and it's politics are much much more sophisticated than that. George Lucas is telling you that democracy works and is worth it *within circumstances*. And that sometimes the circumstances shift and democracy becomes incapable of protecting itself from its own shortcomings.
Then what do you do?
same line as C3PO in DSW: "Princess Leia--I mean General"
it's all so tiresome 🫠
buy my books instead, my writing at its worst is still leagues better than this
i've watched trends in literature & publishing for 2 decades now. there's not much about the newer authors that excites me; most of them don't have enough life experience (or a good dev editor) to make a good story that is both timely AND timeless. There's not a lot of master & apprentice-ship going on.
post 2006 you really have to watch how decadent and degenerate it gets, too
The point of this was to show that there are good and bad people on both sides of a war... a concept people used to understand when it came to civilians and soldiers following orders.
But nope, everyone seems to have forgotten that and just wanna be like Net and drown hundreds of civilians that have nothing to do with the war besides being born on the other side.
abortion is a great sin on many nations
to kill your own offspring is to kill your own humanity in the process
you can think like a monster without being a monster
but you first have to know that monsters exist
There is a really great plot point in Dracula where Van Helsing and Harker decide not to tell Mina about any of the vampire hunting they’re engaging in so as to protect Mina’s mind from being haunted by evil stuff. She agrees to it, understanding the logic. But Dracula takes advantage of exactly this ignorance on the part of Mina, and when the men are out hunting him, the demon takes his chance to attack Mina who is all the more vulnerable for not being on her guard and knowing how to defend herself.
builders > activists
we're not going to americanize mars without builders
we're not going to survive as a species if we keep coddling activists
The activist will build a fire out of what you love.
They will lie.
They will threaten.
They will wail that you not letting them in isn’t fair.
For they have no morals but to build a temple to their own ego on top of what you love.
And when confronted with their own failure, they will accept no responsibility, nor accountability.
They do not care how much money they burn, or what they destroy in the pursuit of their goals so long as it is their message that retained control until the very end.
So do not weep for those who lost their work, for they sowed the garden with their ill-conceived poison and the tree of wokeness bears a bitter fruit.
It did not have to be this way
