💥 The £100k Bitcoin Heist That Could Be Part of a Bigger Crime Spree 💥 In July 2020, a sophisticated theft of £100,000 (equivalent to 13.68 Bitcoin) left a victim reeling. Despite reporting the incident to law enforcement at the time, the victim has yet to see any resolution. The theft occurred at the Sexy Fish restaurant in Berkeley Square, London, where attackers used advanced techniques like Replace-By-Fee (RBF) to manipulate unconfirmed transactions and reroute the funds, leaving the individual, referred to as SA, without recourse. KEY DEVELOPMENTS FROM OUR INVESTIGATION REF: Screenshot taken the victim moments before the BTC disappeared from their wallet July 17th Transaction: A transaction using Child Pays for Parent (CPFP) was confirmed, showing advanced expertise. This transaction provided a concrete link to the attack on July 18th, where £100,000 in Bitcoin was stolen. ⬆️ Using screenshots we were able to identify the 17th July Transaction which enabled up to link to the 18th July Theft July 18th Attack: The attackers exploited RBF to replace SA’s transaction, effectively erasing its trace on the blockchain. The transaction hash, 37f2c251de941f9d036c80ffce49ce443a6eec85e50e45033f3ae52a8995b8b8 The Bigger Picture: Analysis reveals this could be just the beginning. A deeper dive into the blockchain uncovered 7 other potential attacks showing similar patterns—each utilising RBF or other advanced techniques. These thefts may be part of a larger, coordinated crime spree in London. We believe we have enough information for Law enforcement to be able to investigate this appropriately, including names, images and businesses of the people potentially involved.
