📌 Jordanian Government Spokesman Mohammad al-Momani said Monday's airstrikes in southern Syria were launched after Jordan's patience ran out over "terrorist movements" targeting its national security.
📌 He claimed preliminary losses of more than 20 ISIS fighters and the destruction of a large weapons depot, saying the operation was based on field intelligence to neutralize "confirmed threats."
📌 Al-Momani said Jordan avoided sites where civilians were believed to be present and expressed regret over civilian casualties.
📌 He said Jordan would work with Syria to form a joint committee to follow up on the operation and step up counter-ISIS coordination, while Damascus protested the strikes as uncoordinated and closed the Nassib border crossing.
The Syrian government announced that the Jordanian Air Force strikes in southern Syria, which killed and wounded civilians, including children, were conducted without prior coordination with Damascus.
Expressing condolences and pledging support to the affected families, Damascus stated that authorities have launched an investigation into the strikes while opening direct communication channels with Amman to address the situation and emphasize the necessity of joint security and field coordination along the border to preserve Syrian sovereignty and bilateral stability.

Syrian security forces arrested a drug smuggler in possession of crystal meth while attempting to cross the Al-Matounah checkpoint in northern rural Suwayda.
Located along the primary northern gateway linking Suwayda to Damascus, the state-run Al-Matounah checkpoint lies just north of the Umm al-Zaytoun checkpoint, where Druze armed factions blocked civilian and student traffic along the highway earlier today.
