I am giving a talk this Tuesday at @Harvard Neural Development Club about our how minimal memory of spatial patterning confers flexible neuronal fates, thanks to @AmyYiChiaHuang1 for the invitation.
Thrilled to meet folks in Boston. Food provided. 5:30 PM @ Warren Alpert 236
Because the memory is so sparse, it's also cheap to override. Some neurons that ignore spatial patterning simply refuse to reactivate Vsx1, and the same type of neuron can be made from the Vsx domain and the Optix domain.

This week at the CSHL Neurobiology of Drosophila conference🧬🪰 our Grad Student Raghu shares his work on stochasticity and determinism in the developing visual system! Plus don’t miss posters by Asif Bakshi (#77), Ben Choi (#101), and Sromana Mukherjee (#216) #CSHLdros
Conference week at CSHL on the Neurobiology of Drosophila. Come hear my talk on how a deterministic visual system is generated from stochastic processes. #cshldros

Longdust, a new tool to identify highly repetitive STRs, VNTRs, satellite DNA and other low-complexity regions (LCRs). Similar to SDUST but for long regions.

Came for the boba, stayed for the content🧋
I'm psyched to share that my PhD paper is now out in @NeuroCellPress ! It's also my first paper as both first author and corresponding author, which means even more to me! 🥳
Thank my partner @ChiChiehLee_tw for her contribution to the most adorable ever graphic abstract 🥰

Time to admit that despite extensive investment and effort we’ve largely failed as a field to understand how regulatory information is encoded in DNA and there isn’t clear progress on the horizon.

🚀 Breakthrough in #ALS research! @YaPingYen et al. in our lab uncovered a pivotal role of m6A in #ALS, and manipulating of m6A reservoir in motor neurons significantly slow down ALS onset and progression in SOD1 mouse model! rdcu.be/ekE3k

Another @DesplanLab & alumni reunion and at #DROS25
It was a great pleasure to speak at the Single-cell Research Workshop organized by @PerrimonLab and @HongjieLi5 at #DROS25. It’s exciting to see all the rapidly evolving work diving deep into the diverse aspects of biological processes!
