This reminds me of the essay: "APHANTASIA An Essay About Nothing" by @peterarmstrong
which you can read or get at leanpub.com/aphantasia/read
Less than a year ago, I found out I have something called aphantasia. While most people can see things in their heads, I can't. If I close my eyes, all I see is pitch black.
This means things like guided meditation or any visualization techniques for me are just frustrating. And I never understood why, always thinking that people were saying "visualize" as a metaphor.
When I told my wife about this, it took her weeks to accept that I can't in fact see anything. Can I not dream ? Can I not imagine things?
And ever since I started talking about it, "normal" people struggle to understand what it feels like.
So I came up with a decent explanation:
Do you know when you are trying to say something, but the word just escapes you? The thing you want to say exists independently of how you word it. You know exactly well what you want to communicate, and you know there is a word for that, but you just forgot.
That's how aphantasia feels like, at least for me. I can imagine things, even the color of things, and I can describe them to you, but I do not *see* them. It's as if I am reading a book, or using a CLI. Text only.
I do dream, and I can tell you - to the color - the things I saw in my dream. However, I cannot *see* it when recalling it. It's as if I read a book about my dream.

One of the best content on this network!
It’s not you, it’s the algorithm!

Today's update of Pragmatic Type-Level Design is Appendix B, "Existential Fight Club." The book is now version 0.7.1 and has 237 pages.
I decided that Chapter 1 "Emergent type-level design", Appendix A "Typed Forms diagrams", and Appendix B "Existential Fight Club" should be available for free. You can download and read the sample from LeanPub's book page, or using this link (it's a PDF with 75 pages of content):

In the new appendix, I implement a small application in different languages (Scala, Rust, Haskell, C++) and showcase two design patterns: existentification and valuefication. I plan to add more languages, in particular, F#, Java, OCaml and TypeScript.
My next goal is to write a big appendix: Appendix D "Zeplrog, type-level OOP and advanced static materialization". I need to discuss many things and show several new tricks with types.
I like @leanpub a lot and I try to buy most of my books from their platform so having more authors there would be really nice …. What does it mean for authors? Why choose to publish your work on Leanpub? Bellow post is one of them, explore the thread to learn others
Replying to @peterarmstrong @leanpub
Finally, to bury the lede:
On @leanpub we pay 80% royalties, meaning you earn $16 on a $20 sale.
And you don't need to run your own storefront. We do everything. We handle sales, refunds, update distribution, etc.
You just write.
This right here 👇

Tipical Apple move: they don’t want competence at all
aaaand just like that Swift decided to shutdown SwiftPM API for third-party clients. Yes, that affects @SwiftStudioApp use case. I have to fork SwiftPM to continue using it 😢

La cuestión no es si la IA generativa es una buena herramienta para traducir o escribir código. La pregunta es si podemos delegar la interpretación del mundo en el software opaco, cerrado y privativo de un puñado de empresas estadounidenses sin alterar el mundo a su favor.
