can't even say "grace doesn't understand how much rocky loves him" because he DOES. that's what the entire post-fishing sequence was about. but grace might not let himself fully accept that it extends that far because of the shame he feels for being a 'coward'.

I think grace underestimates how understanding rocky would be if he found out that grace was forced onto the hail mary. after all, rocky himself knows exactly what it's like to be stranded in space, thinking that you're going to die there and never get a chance to see home again.
