I could not be prouder of this team for all their hard work in organizing and planning this important event! I firmly stand behind them as they help lead the charge to end racism and inequality in our country! #ProudCoach #WeAreUK
Our Social Justice March and Unity Fair is over, and it was a huge success. 🤝
Thank you to all the fantastic speakers, our fellow student-athletes who joined in, and all of our supporters across the state.

I was glad to host @KySportsRadio today! I appreciated the opportunity to talk about what I’ve learned over the past 2 weeks since George Floyd’s murder. The Mitchell Family will work hard to help end racism and inequality in our community! Black lives matter! #BeTheChange

What if ...
We stayed silent?
We didn’t listen and act?
We didn’t fully support our student-athletes and give them a platform?
We didn’t make it clear black lives matter?
We refuse to find out.

We, the Big Blue Nation, must come together as one community and demand a new standard.
We must do our part to establish equality, so we can make progress toward unity.
A statement from UK Athletics:
George Floyd’s death was horrifying, senseless and it is infuriating. I am praying for the strength to do my part as a citizen, as a father, as a husband, as a friend, as a coach, and as a leader to bring about positive change and healing in our country. We must begin. 🙏
