On this Kane Ballon d’Or, I have something to say that reflect my point when I talk about football and life. Look at Kane, he’s 33, look at the players around his age Neymar, Pogba, Dybala, Lukaku, amount others. Compare their Journey with Harry Kane. Can you see where I am going?? That’s life. 10 years ago, you won’t actually think Harry Kane will be a ballon d’or winner and Neymar highest finish will be third. Look at his career, till age 30. It’s always about the things he couldn’t win. But today he’s won the highest award in football. That’s also how life is, the journey might be long, might take another route different to others but doesn’t mean you’re late. There’s no late comer for success. Benzema played the most games before winning ballon d’or, Kane has played the second most games, yet it’s not a stat people remember. And that’s the thing about life, you can spend so much time looking at people around you and wondering why things are not happening for you at the same pace. You see people your age achieving things you are still praying for, people you started with moving ahead of you, and sometimes you begin to question whether you are doing something wrong. But Kane’s story is a reminder that everybody has their own journey. You can be good at what you do, put in the work for years and still have to wait longer than you expected before everything finally comes together. Imagine if Kane had allowed the things he couldn’t achieve at Tottenham to define his entire career. Imagine if he had started believing that the opportunity to win the biggest trophies had passed him by. Today, we probably wouldn’t be having this conversation the way we are having it. He kept showing up, kept scoring goals, kept improving, and when the opportunity came to take a different route, he took it. Sometimes, the problem is that we judge our lives based on where we think we should be by a certain age. At 25, you think you should have achieved this. At 30, you think you should have figured everything out. And when life doesn’t happen according to that timeline, you start feeling like you are behind. But behind who? Who decided that everybody must achieve their dreams at the same age? Kane is 33, and he has just reached a height many people thought he would never reach. That should tell you something. Your story is not finished simply because you haven’t achieved what you wanted to achieve by now. You haven’t failed simply because somebody else got there before you. And you are not late just because your journey is taking longer than you imagined. Keep working. Keep showing up. Keep becoming better at what you do. You don’t know how your story will end, and you don’t need to have everything figured out today. Sometimes, all you need to do is keep going long enough to see what your life can become. Harry Kane’s journey is a reminder that you should never be in a hurry to write yourself off. The chapter you are currently in is not necessarily the conclusion of your story.
Good morning 😁

The best person for the job should get the job. Period. Today we tabled legislation that would ensure hiring and promotion decisions in the public sector are based on merit, not DEI policies. Mandatory workplace training will be relevant to the roles and responsibilities of the employee, instead of mandatory DEI sessions. Every Albertan deserves a fair shot, and fairness means everyone competes on the same terms.

During his time at Tottenham Hotspur and more broadly in England, Harry Kane was often mocked for his lack of trophies. The England captain was considered a perennial nearly man, losing two EFL Cup finals and a Champions League final with Spurs and losing two European Championship finals and two World Cup semi-finals with England. Since his move to Bayern Munich, he has won two Bundesliga titles and the DFB-Pokal. Tonight, at 33 years old, Kane finally had his moment. He was crowned the best footballer in the world. 🔗 nyti.ms/4dTOSRe

Five weeks ago, on the clear directive of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, I inaugurated a 10-member Independent Investigative Committee to establish the full truth of the deaths in NSCDC custody in Niger State. As a government, the findings are clear and sobering. Thirty-three lives, including fourteen minors, were lost in what the Committee has established as a preventable custodial tragedy. The evidence points to severe overcrowding, inadequate ventilation, prolonged exposure to extreme heat and dehydration, and a systemic failure of duty of care within the detention facility. These conditions, rather than any disease outbreak, led to the fatalities. In line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, this administration remains unwavering in its commitment that every Nigerian life matters and that justice must not only be done but must be seen to have been done. As a Ministry, we have wasted no time. The full report has been transmitted to the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation for immediate judicial action. Officers who attempted to conceal, disrupt, or destroy evidence will face immediate suspension and full accountability. Comprehensive institutional reforms of the NSCDC will be driven with urgency and precision. Above all, support for the bereaved families and the survivors remain a top priority; because under this administration, we remain keenly committed to ensuring that Nigerians get the full measure of justice they deserve. I commend and deeply appreciate the entire Committee for their diligence, integrity, and commitment to justice. Under the chairmanship of Mr. Jonathan Kure, mni (retired Deputy Director-General of the Department of State Services) and with Professor Isa Hayatu Chiroma, SAN (former Director-General of the Nigerian Law School) as Secretary, they presented a thorough and professional report after five weeks of rigorous fieldwork. Also, my special thanks to the other distinguished members of the Committee: retired AIG Hosea Hassan Karma; Professor Olayinka Buhari (Professor of Histopathology and former Chief Medical Director of the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital); a representative of the Minna Emirate Council; a representative of the Niger State Government; Alhaji Liman Sulaiman (National Secretary, Miners Association of Nigeria); Deji Adeyanju (lawyer and human rights activist); Mrs. Zainab Suleiman Okino of Blueprint Newspaper; and Dr. George Agbakahi (Public Affairs Analyst). They have done the nation proud.

The Scripture says, “Avoiding a fight is a mark of honor.” It doesn’t say winning a fight is a mark of honor. It’s easy to get into conflict, stir things up. But it’s hard to bite your tongue. NSCDC CUSTODY DEATHS: COMMITTEE FINDS NEGLIGENCE, RECOMMENDS DISMISSAL OF RESPONSIBLE OFFICERS The Federal Government’s Independent Investigative Committee set up to probe the reported deaths of 37 detainees in the custody of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Niger State has found that the deaths resulted from asphyxiation, describing the incident as preventable. The committee attributed the deaths to negligence and recommended the summary dismissal of officers found primarily responsible for the incident. Presenting the committee’s findings, the Chairman said the deaths occurred between the 16th and 17th of September. The committee also established that physical assault and underlying medical conditions were not identified as causes of death. It further revealed that the operation leading to the arrest of the detainees was conducted without an operational order or approval from the NSCDC National Headquarters. The Committee's recommendations are expected to guide further action to ensure accountability and prevent a recurrence.

The #BallonDor has made progress, but if you're nominating 10 men's young talents & goalkeepers but only nominating five women, that's still not equality. And then came Laporta's Freudian slip... Here's more on that, plus the greatness of Alexia Putellas. theguardian.com/football/202…
