So @xbabtech’s 163 µs figure is a reduction in frame-to-USB latency relative to FrameSync, NOT SensorLock’s absolute latency.
L(SensorLock) = L(FrameSync) − 163 µs
The same 163 µs delta can sit on very different absolutes. In the demo the paired traces are 205 µs vs 42 µs. Another frame shows FrameSync at 158 µs. The delta alone is not the result.
For our custom mouse path, ~10 µs is frame-ready → host-visible event. It excludes physical movement to a valid sensor frame.
“Our 10 µs beats their 163 µs” compares an absolute on one path with an improvement claimed against another system. The endpoints also differ: USB delivery is not frame-ready → host-visible.
A real comparison needs measured absolutes, matching start and end points, comparable conditions, and the same statistic. An improvement over a baseline is not the final latency.
With @AbyssGaming107 going global, I wanted to write a review of their surface Veil, which I have been using for the past few months.
Unboxing experience:
It's definetly good especially considering it's price, It comes in a box containing a few packs of mouse skates, a cleaning cloth and a Card featuring the art. It also has an outer box for added protection.
The Surface:
The speed category this mousepad falls in is Extreme speed and is I believe the fastest of Abyssgaming lineup. It outspeeds my Dysphoria Nico in actual use as it has less Static friction which really helps in changing directions of the mouse as fast as possible, The dynamic friction is quite low so together with the low static it makes up a good surface for Tracking based games with higher TTK rates.
Due to it's high texture You are able to achieve control with the so called "Pushdown Effect". The Textural feedback isn't as noticable when You try touching the pad with Your bare hand but when it comes to using Your mouse You will notice it a lot, especially in bigger movements with Your mouse.
The games I mostly used this pad in are Valorant and The Finals.
Despite being known as a game where You need a slower mousepad with high control, Valorant is the game where I shined the most in with this pad. Coming from a clothpad I tought I would be playing Valorant severly worse on a high speed mousepad like this but I was very wrong. The extremely low dynamic friction it provides made my flicks be snappier, faster while the static friction made my micro-corrections be much quicker. Due to the pushdown effect I mentioned earlier the control on this thing is insane when force is applied to it. First week of using this pad I ranked up 2 devisions and reached my peak performance and rank in Valorant.
The Finals on the other hand is a game where You would want a faster surface and especially a lower Static friction for direction changes, it felt like a rebirth using this pad in The Finals... every single time I tracked it felt much more on point coming from an cloth pad.
My closing toughts is that even tho I don't prefer textured mousepads this one really stood out and gave me a great time playing allowing me to reach my new peaks and explore the glasspad space. For the amount of money it costs it truly is a great pickup!
The comfort:
Edges of this mousepad are quite comfortable as I don't feel anything while I play, it's mostly do to it being very thin sitting to a total of 2.3mm.
The skin stick isn't the best, I couldn't play without an arm sleeve and even with my Pulsar ES I had problems.
It has a full silicone backing which stick really well to the desk *(I even have problems moving it around)* despite it having an design.
The art featured on this pad is illustrated by @washiya0 and is personally one of my favorite arts I've seen on a mousepad. The Clarity is great, it doesn't get blurry not even when You get into details.
I threw in a drop test comparing it to the Dysphoria Nico on about 19.7 degree angle aswell as my try of close up photo so You can see it's texture.
*Note that even tho Dysphoria Nico seems faster on the drop test. LanYu is faster in use*
