Not sure why I was paying for all my SaaS subscriptions now code is cheap... so I made open source copies of them all.
1/3 A debugging check for JavaScript errors: does the source map belong to the exact release AND build that emitted the error? A plausible line from the wrong build sends you chasing the wrong fix.
2/3 Keep the minified file, the release/build ID and the private map together in CI. Keep the map-upload key out of the public bundle. After deploying a new build, test an old release's error: it should map with its own map, not today's.
3/3 I made Spool at Just Every, a free, open-source (MIT) error tracker built around this check: github.com/just-every/run-sp…
What source-map mismatch would you add to this test?
1/2 In Pencil's coffee-feedback form, a short data notice comes before the answers: who sees replies, and that typed details can identify you. It costs vertical space. Is it worth it?

ALT Pencil coffee-feedback demo. The first question asks how the visit was. A Before you share notice explains who sees submitted answers and warns that typed identifying details may identify the respondent. Three answer choices appear below; Great is selected with a check mark and a contrasting border. A Continue button follows.
2/2 The selected answer has a check mark as well as colour. What would you change in this layout? Pencil is free and open source (MIT), from Just Every; I'm James: github.com/just-every/run-pe…
Agent-written code needs written promises. At Just Every, we give each product plain-English promises, each with a test. Lamp checks that a status page never shows an all-clear it can't confirm. What would you add?

1/3 A review check for generated changes: when the page can't read its data, what does the user see? A status page that falls back to "All systems operational" is the worst answer.
2/3 Lamp, our open-source status page (MIT), writes the rule down. A test removes a table under the running database and checks the all-clear appears nowhere. A saved copy is labelled as last known.
3/3 I'm James, from Just Every. We write each product's promises in plain English and turn each into a test. Process write-up: justevery.com/process
For any team chat: record the request, who accepted it and what changed. Nook, our free open-source (MIT) Slack alternative, turns a message into a recorded decision or request. I'm James; I make it at Just Every. How do you track hand-offs?

Going from Opus 5.5 to Astra feels like going from a PHD student to a high schooler sometimes. I mostly let Opus deal with Astra/Sol at the moment. Too frustrating 🤣

Made open source copies of the SaaS I was paying for. Then gave them away, free and MIT licensed. 14 so far, six more coming.

Made a thing github.com/just-every/plugin… uses Jev/Decisions API to pull in codex from past sessions while coding. Kind of a super charged memory system.
