So, @JohnMcGuire4VA is safe in VA05.
Now trying to determine VA01 and 02
IF, and I say IF, the polls and handwringing over the early vote prove to be wrong, the reason will be that the democrats are simply far more energized and motivated.
They answered polls enthusiastically. They voted as soon as they could/remembered they could.
The reason pollsters and prognosticators are having such difficulty recently is because voters, campaigns, etc. have not settled into pattern in response to the extended, universal early voting that emerged during COVID.
The behavior patterns are still changing and emerging. Campaigns don’t have a consistent dogma/machinery built around it. It’s too variable at this moment.
Should the new rules persist, I expect significantly higher predictive power to result in the next couple federal elections.
Until then, I don’t put much stock in it, because I at least haven’t found a consistent, mathematical relationship yet. Too much is still dependent on vibes/interpretations/judgement calls for my liking.
Nobody is forgetting that.
Also, nobody serious is condoning it.
What people ARE saying is that they understand/empathize with his CHARACTER.
He was neither pure good nor pure evil, regardless of the color scheme, etc.
He was operating within a framework where one side claimed the monopoly on good, opposing the side claimed to have the monopoly on evil… when in reality, neither did.
They understand his motivations, vengeance for his mother who was abandoned by the “good guys” to be tortured, raped, and killed. They understand his motivation, to do what is considered evil to save his wife and children.
They also understand that, no matter how “purely evil” he may have seemed at times, he ultimately sacrificed his own life to kill the Emperor, destroy the Sith, and bring balance to the force…
… once again not out of selfishness, but rather to save his son.
Only people with a cherubic, cartoonish understanding of the world and good/evil are struggling with understanding this whole thing.
They empathize with someone who is neither purely good nor purely evil, and is deeply conflicted, and driven by completely pure intentions (save mother, wife, and children).
Nobody (nobody serious at least) agrees with Anakin killing children, etc.
But they see him struggling to work within a system that has one side claiming to be purely good, that is opposing the other side they claim is purely evil… when neither side is such.
They understand Anakin’s motivations, his conflict, and his choices.
What makes it exceptionally seductive is that, even after all his poor choices, and seeming turn to pure evil, he ultimately redeems himself by sacrificing his life to kill the Emperor, destroy the Sith, and restore balance to the force…
… which was ONCE AGAIN driven by the same underlying impulse that caused him to cave to evil in the first place—to save his child.
Anyone who doesn’t get this either literarily stunted or has a childlike, cartoonish understanding of good/evil and the world generally.
Aren’t you an atheist?
Because of your complete lack of theological understanding, you conflate Lucifer, who is the embodiment of evil, with a human character who, by definition, is neither entirely evil nor entirely good.
You have a cherubic understanding of the world and good/evil, and thus you are incapable of understanding that Anakin isn’t entirely evil, but is rather a very conflicted human… who, like all humans, is capable of both.
People are identifying with Anakin not because he killed children, or any other evil act, but rather that he was deeply conflicted but driven by admirable and relatable impulses… and confronting a galaxy where there also was no purely good nor purely evil side.
Because you have a childlike understanding of humans and good/evil, you think everyone and everything is either entirely good or entirely evil. Thus, because Anakin did some rather heinous things, he is exclusively evil, and therefore anyone who relates to or empathizes with Anakin must also be entirely evil.
No wonder you voted for Clinton and were a lifelong Democrat…
…you have a fatally flawed, childlike, and cartoonish understanding of the world.
Rural Virginia (Charlotte County) showing strong turnout.
You might say “but that’s only 5 votes!”
But I’d say, you’ve never campaigned much in Southside Virginia.
(Not making any predictions on the races today, in light of this or otherwise, as I don’t have any candidates in the field and lack the info I normally would have.)
I remember what lead me to realize you were a liberal larping as a conservative…
It was you talking.
(As if someone who was a lifelong Democrat and Clinton voter is in any way capable of being more right about what conservatives ought to be than actual conservatives.)
Take the time to read this.
It explains with exceptional clarity why the Prequels resonate so deeply with the younger generations, especially the young men. (And explains why the killing of Younglings/Alderaan is clearly contrived and artificial.)
It missed the cherry on top, the final bow, however, which is the purpose of the final trilogy (VII, VIII, IX).
They had to bring Palpatine back, in order to nullify the redemption arc of Vader. Vader sacrificed himself to kill the Emperor and destroy the Empire… the villian who turned out to be the ultimate hero.
Disney had to bring Palpatine back to make sure nobody would interpret Anakin/Vader in the way he was obviously portrayed.
And of course they made a girlboss (who was immediately the most powerful without having to struggle in the slightest to obtain such power, and was perfect in every way) the one to do it.
uppercanadiancavalier.substa…
This is exactly what I would expect from someone who either:
1) is incapable of sophisticated literary analysis;
2) has a childlike, cartoonish understanding of good and evil; or
3) laughed because deep down they know the truth, but are too afraid to acknowledge it.

James Lindsay is now feuding with the man who successfully ran Dave Brat’s insurgent Tea Party campaign against House Majority Leader Eric Cantor in 2014.
Brat’s shocking defeat of Cantor (who spent more money on steak dinners than he did on the entire primary) essentially heralded the emergence of Donald Trump a year later.
The only argument you could make that Zach isn’t a conservative is that the word isn’t strong enough.
Google me and tell me I’m not a conservative.
I ran Dave Brat’s campaign when he took down House Majority Leader Eric Cantor in a primary, won three other congressional races for conservatives in VA in four years before law school.
Member of Federalist Society in Law School, an editor of the conservative law review at Texas law.
I’m sick and tired of “conservatives” like James who only advocate for conserving the post WWII liberal order, which lead directly to our civilization teetering on the brink of destruction.
Too bad you’re not in Congress, because you’re the exact type who would need an ass-kicking in a primary.
The only “madness” that is coming is the conservatives finally taking back our culture, government, etc.
And for some reason that makes you very nervous.
You’re one of those grifters who can only succeed while the thing they’re “fighting against” survives.
Without “communism” in control, your entire (false) identity is destroyed.
If you think anyone other than Anakin/Darth Vader was the ultimate hero of Star Wars, then either you don’t understand the story at all, or have a childish, cartoonish outlook on the world.
(Don’t care about Disney ones, they don’t exist in my world.)

Replying to @NewsHour @PolitiFact
I'm 70 years old, so I've been through a lot of elections.
You are lying.
It's not normal.
That is a recent artifact of accepting late ballots, cheating, and mailing ballots to everyone, also cheating.
I'm sure there was cheating before, but now the system is gamed to make cheating easy - for democrats
Barely literate third world immigrants making laws…
We live in a wild timeline.
Unfortunately, the longer we wait, the more painful the remedy. Time to get our act together and fix this.
