I put together a video going over the most damning parts of the EU Kids Act. It would make playing unsupported games online in the EU illegal, no joke. This is way bigger than SKG, most of the industry seems to be sleeping on this.

It's no more evil than the printing press or postal service. It's just faster long-distance communication. Like anything powerful, it's misused, but it's no more suited to that than it is to making educational resources cheaply available or helping isolated people find community.
I think you're not factoring in Psychonauts 2 into the equation. Microsoft released Double Fine's best game (and almost certainly biggest success), about 2 years in to owning the studio. After that long development, DF went to smaller projects like they have in the past.
