AI really is not that useful. Like all it's good at is a few work applications.
It's only really good at excel, spreadsheets, coding, design, animation, engineering, robotics, math, science, law, contract review, medical development, marketing, note-taking, taxes, accounting, shopping, financial preperation, inventory, reconciliation, etc.
So I don't get the big deal with AI, it's only good at that type of stuff.
For the average folk that just wants to go home and sit on the TV, what do they even need AI for.

Simple breakdown:
We’ve had this cancer drug for years. We just kept saving it for when cancer was already advanced.
Someone tried giving it first instead and in one type of rectal cancer, ~70% never needed surgery, radiation or chemo.

Wife needs MRI for a painful lump she found recently. Went to the hospital. She’s self employed, marketplace insurance pretty high deductible. Asked them what it would cost if she did self pay. Went from $16,000 to $895. This was comical. Health insurance is truly one of the biggest scams in the country right now. They make it confusing with the inflated initial charges, the codes, denials, appeals, more denials, so we, as customers, don’t even know the right questions to ask and finally just give up trying to get a claim paid if it is denied. At this point, may as well just ask for self pay on EVERYTHING. And yes, the $895 includes the radiologist’s assessment of the MRI as well.

I threw my first semi-complex task at Muse (renamed Zark) & it executed flawlessly. It involved a contact lens rx in a PDF, finding the lowest price/box online & negotiating a price match from 1-800 Contacts. Very little prompting required which was impressive. $META

For people wondering what it looks like navigating the various treatment options, here's a screenshot of my Notion board I'm using to keep track of it all.
None of it is by hand. My Grok @bot finds new trials, and ChatGPT helps me research treatments. When one's worth tracking, they add it to Notion and label it for me.

People who cured / are curing their own cancer on X:
1/ @sytses - bone cancer, billionaire founder of Gitlab, developed 10+ personalized therapies for himself.
2/ @paul_conyngham - shrank his dog Rosie's mast cell cancer tumors after chemo and surgery weren't enough. Now backed by YC and Founders Fund
3/ @miriamgonp - stage 4 breast cancer, tumor sequenced, searching for vaccine manufacturer now
4/ @kevinace - stage 4 lung cancer, angel investor in 300+ companies, first drug stopped working after 18 months. Vaccine designed, now paying $300k out of pocket for the vaccine
5/ @masonbgrant: going founder mode on his his 32-year-old wife's rare liver cancer, sequencing her tumor with AI agents
6/ @ArunRLverma: former product leader at Atoms and Shopify, brain tumor, built a vaccine from his tumor. Now building an AI health agent startup based on what he went through

The most interesting part of this whole thing is the incentives at play.
Many people think biology won't be solved because it's too complex to properly simulate insilico, therefore too hard to verify if the drugs will actually work without human trials that typically span several years.
Yet what will actually happen is much simpler: if you are 80, on death's door, and a superintelligence exists that designs a potential drug that might extend your life X years, are you going to a) wait for the regulatory body to run the official clinical trial and risk dying by the time the drug is officially on the market, OR b) fly to a country with zero regulations on this stuff, send your drug design to a wet lab, get it manufactured and YOLO ingest it.
The answer is B.
And it doesn't even have to be the answer for the majority of old people in this example. It actually only needs to work for enough of them that try it to create a 'stampede effect' whereby they all try it and it works for most of them.
Incentives rule the world.
What is AI really capable of in bio?

About the "public good"
We’re committing a portion of Anthropic’s shares to the Anthropic Public Benefit Fund, a new wholly owned entity dedicated entirely to the public benefit.
It will start off with 5% of our shares. For every 50% increase in the company’s value over a set baseline, we can contribute up to an extra 2%, subject to our board’s discretion.
In total, this means that roughly 20% of Anthropic’s shares are committed to the public good. Our co-founders have already pledged to donate 80% of their equity, and around half our employees are donating a portion of their equity as part of a donation matching program we’ve run since our founding.
In the post below, we share more details about our new fund.

Today is a big day for me. Together with a great alternative data provider team, we are launching Qalpha AI!
Qalpha AI is an alternative data platform with a focus on the Cloud, AI, and SaaS sectors. It extracts alternative data, including hiring data, adoption data from over 20k companies, infrastructure signals for more than 1700 products like new subdomains, DNS records, certificate transparency logs, and data center buildout data. We track all the big tech names $MSFT, $GOOGL, $AMZN, $META on top of hundreds of mid-sized and smaller companies in this sector. You can also track things like Claude, Codex, ChatGPT, Copilot, AWS Bedrock, and much more.
For me, the key was also to make the product affordable, since it provides insights that were previously charged 10x more on other legacy platforms and were lower quality or didn't even exist.
The platform already offers a ton of alternative data as it is, but over the coming weeks we will keep adding new data sources and expanding the platform since we have the tools and the know-how to fully take advantage of this time and provide investment professionals and corporates a service which was already due for some time now.
For the first 7 days of launch, we are offering a special discount on pricing + a 3-day free trial.
I truly invite you to use it, as it really gives valuable insights: qalpha.ai/
For those who have found my posts useful over the years, I would really appreciate it if you could help spread the word. Thank you 🙏
Can't wait to check it out!
