Terry A. Davis was a tortured genius and schizophrenic programmer who got famous for his homemade operating system called TempleOS. One journalist described it as a one-man-built skyscraper and said it “actually boggles my mind that one man wrote all that”. He also said it is “hard for a layperson to understand what a phenomenal achievement” TempleOS was. However, Terry claimed he did not even invent it. TempleOS was a “revelation” from God, designed after Solomon’s Third Temple. It was a way to talk to God with a computer. It was an apocalyptic oracle prophesied in the Bible. Apparently, this “revelation” was a reward for giving his possessions away and making large donations to charities. He attempted to live a nomadic life like Christ while looking for answers to the universe’s greatest questions. However, he would eventually become paranoid about being stalked by government agents and aliens trying to stop him. Because of this, he’d end up in jail or mental institutions. But sometimes, he was able to come with genius ways to escape. Nevertheless, Davis seemed to believe a Christian operating system was the only solution to the back doors in most mainstream computers. He was called crazy for thinking the CIA could hack into most operating systems. Yet, he was proven right only a few years later, when this was finally admitted by the media. Sadly, Davis struggled with homelessness most his life, and in 2018, was struck by a train while wandering the tracks. By that point, he had started deleting his digital footprint. He said he didn’t want to litter the internet anymore. Instead, he wanted to purify himself. Shortly before his death, he also said “It's good to be king. Wait, maybe. I think maybe I'm just like a little bizarre little person who walks back and forth. Whatever, you know, but...” This statement is actually somewhat profound. Doesn’t the Christian mystic see himself as a paradox: the king of his own inner kingdom, but also a stranger and a pilgrim on this earth? In conclusion, it seems Davis was an intelligent but mentally ill man with a genuine heart. And it seems like most intelligent and mentally ill people, he was at war with demons we don’t understand. The Third Temple is supposedly the seat of the Antichrist. And now many people believe AI will help usher in the Antichrist. So, maybe the manic episodes that inspired his massive programming project actually came from the god of this world. Good intentions are often twisted when technology gets involved. And now that we are witnessing AI induced psychosis on a mass scale, it is not too hard to believe Terry accidentally contacted a false god.
